OT: Who's playing a MMO?

33 posts in this topic

Just curious what if any MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online) games the folks on here play (do a lot of comic collectors play computer games?). I started out playing Diablo first, then Ultima Online, Everquest (5 years!), City of Heroes, and now EVE (very cool sci-fi game).

I have purposely avoided WoW because it's basically computer gaming crack like EQ was. I play EVE like 5 or 6 hours a week. One thing I really like about it is that your character continues to advance while your offline.

I played eq for five years and finally quit for good. I'm currently not playing anything, i don't like that feeling of addiction. OK back to my porn viewing

I love MMO's.I am currently playing EQ2,got a 46 mystic and a 33 necro.Played a little WoW(didn't like it) and Guild Wars(still play once in a while),I also played City of Heroes(lvl 33 Blaster) and tons of Diablo 2.I usually get hooked for a few months, then get tired of the grind and start playing other games............. confused-smiley-013.gif

I'm a big Counter Strike player, 1.6, CZ and source. I used to play UT heavily but prefer the older versions to the new.

Ive tried WoW once on someone else PC but never got to liking it. Plus after reading this im glad I didn't buy it. sumo.gif

For you WOW whores. It's actually spyware.

Its crazy what companies think they can put on your PC these days.

UO, EQ, Anarchy Online (wow that bit the sac), CoH, a space ship game the title of which i've forgotten....but it wasn't that hot and i didn't bother to buy it after the alpha/beta...currently running a Druid on my brother's WoW account....liking it...but....doubt i'll buy it either.

My fave has been UO really.....it had the best combo of graphics, perspective, skills and economy.

CoH was really disappointing to me....liked it for a while, but it became really 1 dimensional really quickly.

City of Heroes, and soon City of Villains for me. I am the opposite of JordanScott - I find other games slow and boring now after playing CoH and its awesome battle interface. Have tried WoW and Guild Wars, but neither held my attention long.

Looking forward to checking out D&D On-line and Lord of the Rings On-line...

I got to play the demo at Gencon in August, and it really does look cool. I'm just not a big Ebberon fan (Forgotten Realms for me wink.gif), but good, long-term gameplay will keep me interested.

I stopped playing PnP around 2nd edition....ran out of good groups to play with....so this whole Eberron thing is new to me. Would have prefered FR, but i understand the difficulties that would have cropped up building into such a fleshed out world.

I played Diablo2, Diablo2 expansion, then went to Everquest and played that for 5 years. I still have several EQ toons, but have stopped playing since the server merge ( only been online a couple of times since then. ). Put alot of time into EQ.

Now I am playing Diablo2 again. What I like about Diablo is it is far far less of a time sink. I like that I can get up in the morning, have some breakfast and log on and do a "zone" to the next waypoint and log off and go to work. Cant do stuff like that in Everquest..takes to long to do anything. I used to have more free time, nowadays I dont.
