Will these corners knock it off a 9.8?

It's a modern book and never been opened. The rest of the book looks new and mint. There are 2 corners that I'm questioning if they will knock it from a 9.8 to something lower. Please give me your opinions here. Pictures make it look worse than it is but I want to hear opinions.

CGC does what it'll do, but I don't think I would expect a 9.8 here. It's tough to tell what's going on in some of these pics without an overall shot for context, and with the reflection of the bag (the last two pics, in particular), but if nothing else, I think that funky FCUL corner is pretty suspect, as is whatever corner you're showing in the first pic. They might consider the FCUL a bindery defect and let it pass, but in general I'll say that I've had nicer looking corners on 9.6 books.

How do you know the book was never opened? The spine (to me anyway) shows evidence of being opened several times.

No...It's no where near as bad as the photos show. Spine looks like plenty of 9.8s I've seen. Remember a 9.8 isn't a 10.0

And yes, those corners will keep it from a 9.8. 9.4 range seems likely.

I agree.

9.4 therabouts.

Thanks for posting.
