Does anyone have any experience with effectiveness of this book by  Jacob Gadbois for pressing comics?

Is there a better resource?

That book is a start. There are FaceBook groups that are willing to help. They quickly get into chemical alteration and repair which to a purist is a big no-no but they do it all the time. They submit without notice to CGC and then claim their successes. But some of the lesser tactics can be under stood from these groups and people. And they will all lead you to practicing on your own but at least you have a little guidance.

I'm not sure if there is 1 "best resource". These aren't the days of OSPG anymore where there's 1 brand ahead of the rest. To become competent, you must gather information from as many legitimate sources as possible, and test via trial-and-error.
