You can unfold yourself as best as possible and then, if pressing or getting pressed, the person (if well experienced) will make sure those are flattened back to normal (or near normal as tiny stress/fold lines may be seen)

As for the dirt, depends what it is. If it can be erased with an eraser and other such tools, sure. If not then it is there to stay

I once tried a method I read about regarding a technique used to remove tide marks from old books using only water, a paint brush, and paper towels but saw little success.  Didn't make it worse,  but also didn't make much of a noticeable difference.
