Of course I’ve been recently reminded of a few of these guys as I still grab the Gold Key books when I find them, like these few here:

I remember yelling it occasionally at my brother over the years, completely forgetting where I got the phrase from.

What is remarkable is how similar all those characters are.

Anyway Top Cat (or Boss Cat, as the BBC used to call him) is 22.

I was more about making the point about the Beeb not being allowed to call TC Top Cat, as the corporation had a ban on advertising (and Top Cat was a cat food brand back in the day, apparently).

A fairly brainless approach, given that after the announcer had said "and now, Boss Cat" the theme tune, which repeated the words "top cat" over and over, would begin. The cartoon was based on Bilko, as I'm sure you knew.
