2022 CGC Grading Contest Season 1 Summer Edition (#3) Round #3

Well, I think I've developed a new strategy.

Here was my note to Mike upon submitting my grades when I got home from the hospital last night:

I am basically just turning in numbers so I don't get disqualified from the next contest in case I have to be at the hospital all day again tomorrow.  My wife fell on Tuesday and broke her femur, had surgery Tuesday evening, and was battling to get her blood pressure back up today.  I'm not sure what tomorrow will bring, but I can't spend a lot of time on this round--and I'm pretty much out of it already anyway.

While I usually pore over every pic with a fine-toothed comb and check my findings against half a dozen grading standards sites, this time I just gave them the un-enlarged once-over, and jotted down my first impressions:

America's Greatest #5 - 8.0

Fight Against Crime #14 - 6.0

Showcase #4 - 5.0

Fantastic Four #25 - 3.0

Supernatural Thrillers #5 - 9.6

1 pt off on each book for a total of 5--I think that's my lowest score in any round of either contest so far!

So eyeballing it shall be from here on!

Fight Against Crime #14   5.0

Showcase #4    4.0

Supernatural Thrillers #5    9.6

A big 8 points! Should have done more research on numerical impact of staining (FAC#14)...

America's Greatest #5 8.0 (if only I knew it was the Mile High copy )

Fight Against Crime #14 6.5 ^^

Showcase #4 3.5 (maybe the tear on the bottom wasn't as bad as I thought it could be)

Fantastic Four #25 2.5 :takeit:

Supernatural Thrillers #5 9.4 doh!

Total of five points so still middle of the pack.

Oh man! Best of luck to your wife; hope she recovers soon.

She is better today and being transferred out of ICU; thanks.

Great news!

Hats off to you who got the 6.5 on the FAC 14. There was a party going on on that book! — what looked like small holes in the front cover, and (I thought) just enough staining on the back cover to push it past the category of pretend-you-don’t-see-it foxing.

Ok, I believe I have recorded all of the grades submitted this round.  If I missed anyone's PM, let me know.  I am about to bring round 4 live.

I think it’s something like 13 points.:tonofbricks:

but if I had known that was the “Mile High” copy I would have known to hugely overgraded it :nyah:

and then I would have scored…9 points!
