scburdet
I'd been hunting a decent copy of this one for a while and finally found one that wasn't overpriced. I got a decent deal b/c it was part of a SSS bundle that went for as much/less than I've seen this book go on a solo sale in lower grade. I feel like any SSS that doesn't look like it was abused by a 4-year-old who's learning to read is a win, and this one looks pretty good considering that target demo. The corners aren't perfect. I did briefly think the white above the issue number was color rub, but it's the art (Spidey's web). If you've never looked at this book and are a Star Wars fan, I highly recommend giving it a once over. The people who worked on SSS had a good sense of (absurd) humor. Still Only 35c
Love this book, it's a tough one with that black cover, but I'm a bit more optimistic for potential grade at 9.0. scburdet and Mars76 1

There's a light scratch around "The Electric Company" (these things always seem to photograph worse than they appear, which is a good thing for IDing defects). But you're 100% right between the black cover and the full color back it's hard to find a copy that doesn't look like in went 3 rounds with Chewbacca. I've got a couple of 7.0s and 7.5s that I think this is better than. I've started to wonder if Kolfax Mingo, who is listed as the writer, is a real person or some invention of the Marvel bullpen. I can only find 6 SSS that ?he? wrote and no other biographical information anywhere. Given it's Star Wars related, I find it hard to believe this person could remain completely anonymous and have no mention in Google-able records other when referencing these SSS. Mars76
That back cover is very nice. I'm at 8.0, maybe 8.5. scburdet
comicginger1789
7.5 from me....maybe 8.0 If this got a 9.0 I would be concerned. The corners and corner creasing are the problems for me and knock it down into the 7.5 range scburdet

I do think this one grades lower than the 39 here, but in the same ballpark (after C/P). So many of the SSS look like they went to war. Maybe a few nicer issues of #1 just b/c collectors went after a Spidey #1 back in the day. I love the quirkiness of both these books. Highly recommended just for the oddity (I think that's a big factor in why my CGC retailer picked this one out)

Highly recommended just for the oddity (I think that's a big factor in why my CGC retailer picked this one out) That example has spine ticks which CGC is surprisingly more lenient on compared to other defects. Yours has some similar top left corner wear.. but the killer is the two tiny corner creases bottom right which for me knocks it back
OtherEric
7.5. Agreed that it's a great book, and any Spidey Super Stories that isn't totally thrashed is a nice find. scburdet

Popular Post scburdet
Obviously, this turned out even better than I expected. Hit at the same grade as the SSS39 I had graded. Perhaps showing what an effective prepper can accomplish as well as the limitations of grading by photos alone.
