* Grade Is In!* Haunt of Fear #9

Hey guys what do you think this book would grade out at? Staples concern me so I’m not sure if it’s a pressing candidate or just deal with the spine roll. I don’t want to damage the book. Please share your thoughts on grade and if pressing would tear cover off. Thanks :)

My first thought is that the cover appears to be nearly detached. If that's the case, pressing the book isn't a great idea.

The highest grade typically assigned by CGC for a book with a detached cover is 4.0, but it can go even lower than that depending on the amount and severity of other defects...

Your question about pressing is probably better asked in the Grading & Restoration forum. Just in the photos, the cover looks like it's almost detached already? I don't see where it's attached to the front cover at the bottom staple based on the title page photo. To me, this seems like the risk of trying to fix one issue (spine roll) is likely to result in equivalent damage during the pressing process. Definitely not something that I have any authority to judge tho.

I tend to be too hard on GA books and then overcorrect (see my scores for the last contest :tonofbricks:). I'll say 3.5/4.0. I'm not convinced that this one prices out where the investment/risk in pressing pays off in increased graded value.
