I literally had a dream about one of these books last night. If I weren’t saving for a new house, I’d be going to town.

All-American Men of War #14 (DC, 1954) CGC 5.0 Cr/OW

Irv Novick cover. Russ Heath and Ross Andru art

Personally, I love these old 50s war books. You don't see them around often and that's why there are only 9 copies on the census. And not expensive at all!

FORUM PRICE: $125.00

How about a combo purchase?

AAW 14 CGC 5.0 $125

AAW 17 CGC 4.5 $125

AAW 24 CGC 3.5 $80

Movie Comics #6 The Phantom Creeps (DC, 1939) CGC 4.0 Cream to off-white pages.

Both Overstreet and Gerber list this book as "scarce". Robot cover. Adaptation of The Phantom Creeps. Gene Autry, Bela Lugosi, Gary Cooper, and Laurel and Hardy appearances. Sheldon Mayer art.

A CGC 3.5 copy sold in April of this year via Heritage for $1,680.00.

I won't go as high as Heritage so hopefully one of the underbidders is here on the Boards but good luck finding another copy!

FORUM PRICE: $1,500.00

Famous Funnies #28 (Eastern Color, 1936) CGC 1.8 OW/W pages.

Mickey Finn begins a run in this issue.

CGC notes: "cover detached". Probably would have been a 5.0 otherwise. Oh well.

There are no sales on GPA noted for the last six years and I can tell you why: there are only five other copies graded! So if you are looking to complete the run, like I am, here is a great filler copy!

FORUM PRICE: $125.00

Is this still available? If so, :takeit:

Secrets Behind The Comics #nn (Famous Enterprises Inc., 1947) CGC FN 6.0 White pages.

Stan Lee was only in his mid-twenties when he wrote this book, yet as it proclaims, "He has been in complete charge of more comic magazines than any other living editor." This book was advertised in Timely comics upon its publication. It has a two-color paper cover, and it's actually not a comic, though it is hand-lettered in true comic style. Smilin' Stan's text is primarily illustrated by Golden Age great, Ken Bald. The book has tons of interesting features including a profile on Syd Shores (with four pages of his Blonde Phantom reproduced); Mike Sekowsky, Basil Wolverton, Al Jaffee, and Martin Goodman are profiled as well. There is also a detailed description of how Captain America was created, accompanied by several images.

Just last year, Heritage recorded a sale of $7,800 or nearly 4x guide for a CGC 9.0 copy! Well, no worries about that because here is a mid-grade affordable copy!!! Prices are kinda all over the place for this book. For those who know what it is, bidding can take it to multiples of Guide. Sometimes one can be lucky to find one for less because many people don't recognize the significance. 2023 OSPG 6.0 value is $444.00.

It is a really cool piece of comic book history.

$500.00
