ASM # 300 CGC 9.0 for $60?

If you needed ASM # 300 to fill your collection, would you buy a CGC graded 9.0 for $60?

 

I think this may be a decent deal since I see raw "NM claimed" copies going for $30 - $50.

 

Thoughts?

Nope. Wouldn't do it. I would guess you'd be able to get a real NM copy for $75 or a bit less in any number of places. Heck, I wouldn't be suprised if forum members had spare NM-ish copies they'd unload for $75 shipped.

But then paying $75 for an ungraded copy, you always run the risk of it coming back less than the grade you thought. At least this way, I am getting a 9.0 without any doubt.

I wouldn't be interested in a CGC 9.0, but if I was hurtin for one, I reckon I'd go $25-$30.

 

And what I'm saying is that for just a bit more, you can get a copy that is most assuredly NM. =)

That's WAY low. Raw VF copies go for more than that. I think $50 or $60 is a fair price.

I really don't know about the 252, as I don't buy CGC books. I just know that $60 for the 300 wasn't a bad price based on raw sales.

I would say it's a fair deal for both buyer and seller.

I've tracked a couple of 252 9.6 sales. They were in the $60 range.

yeah, i don't see too many raw NM ASM 300s going for $25-$40 where there's any kind of scan that shows the defects. No doubt you'll eventually stumple of one with a bad scan and low feedback seller, but you may wind up purchasing lower grade copies before then.

I'd ignore the one that went for $41 because that was a wacky canadian seller with weird payment requirements that would have scared me off.

 

there's some price resistance above that point ($70), mainly because you can get lucky and snag a 9.4 with white pages for $100 like someone did with me a few months ago (though it tends to go higher).

Not a fan of graded comics, if I can't read it I don't need it in my collection.

Thanks for the feedback! I just got into slabbed books. I always try to have a reading copy and upgrade to a nice graded copy. An exception was ASM 300, which I could not force myself to spend $40 to $80 on a nice raw copy.

 

I brought the ASM 252 and 300 combo so there is no doubt that I now have a NM 300 and a very nice 252.

 

Now all I have to do is receive them and hope all is well..
