Without any further delay here is my annual Little Giant  Old School Comic Show report….all photos borrowed from social media or taken by me.

When we arrived at the Everett Arena on Friday afternoon there was already lots of hustle and bustle around the room. All of the pro wall displays were mostly complete, dealers like Carbo, Harley Yee or Superworld were shopping around the room. After we loaded in all our boxes and got the wall rack setup I took a look around the room and took some time to chat with vendors I see every month….and vendors I only get to see once a year.
The show has become a great annual event I look forward to, we’ve been setting up since year one. It gives attendees a chance to check out some very rare comics + get a chance to see big show books without the big show ticket cost - while also remaining comic focused.
After cruising through most of the floor I took some time at the Little Giant wall. There are so many great books to look at it is easy to miss something your first time through. I got a pretty good deal from Jason (Little Giant) on a Laff-a-Lympics #1. Afterwards, my wife & I stopped for dinner then headed to the cocktail party/meet&greet.

It’s become a tradition for vendors and artists to meet at the local Holiday Inn for a meet & greet after setup - Little Giant Comics invites the vendors to come hang out and enjoy hors d’ouvrs and appetizers. I got a chance to say hi to @bentbryan, chat with other vendors, and meet and chat with Joe Simon’s grandson, check out Shield Master. YouTube comic personalities had a setup and were interviewing vendors and artists live during the party. I saw Jim Starlin and Al Milgrom there as well. Extras like this really set the show apart.

After stumbling into town to find some decent coffee, we headed over to the Everett Arena for the show. Doors open at 9AM if you pay for VIP access. The VIP ticket gets a swag bag filled with extras, a variant comic, giveaways and raffle tickets. (There were many more raffles this year than I’ve seen in years past, one prize I heard over the intercom was a Venom Lethal Protector 1 CGC 9.8). Parking is free, regular admission tickets are only $15, kids 12&under free, really making this show a great choice for families.

9AM doors opened and the crowds started trickling in. Many attendees were seeking books to have autographed, which we brought plenty of. With Jim Starlin headlining the show we sold multiple copies and sets of Infinity Gauntlet with #1 & #4 being in high demand. Most Thanos and Warlock related books were very popular and selling well. Dreadstar was also selling well, we sold every issue we had in our back issues.

As the crowd started trickling in our boxes started to get crowded. Back issues of all different kinds sold in stacks to people of all different ages. Most popular this year were cartoon, tv show, and video game books. Titles like Rocko’s Modern Life, The Flintstones, The Simpsons, Street Fighter 2, The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Bros were all very popular. Also popular was a complete sealed set of Viz’s Pokémon 1-4. At some point in the day @comicartfan stopped by to say hi and chat for a little while.

Popular books like Uncanny X-Men 266, Iron Man 282, Amazing Spider-Man 122, 252, West Coast Avengers 45, Care Bears 7, Muppet Babies 10, and many others sold at our booth during the show. We stayed busy throughout the afternoon with traffic finally dying down after 3pm, although there were still lots of deals going on.

After load out the vendors and artists are invited for an after party/dinner. There was a short panel with a Q&A featuring Jim Starlin, Al Milgrom, and Mike Royer.

We had another great trip up to New Hampshire and we’re already looking forward to next time. Thanks to Jason, Celeste and the whole Little Giant crew for continuing to host such a fantastic comic book show.

Excellent show as always, True about the prices on Silver and Bronze age comics. 

Every person that seemed interested I looked up the current market for them, if I was way over priced I lowered the price to market and most of the time the comic was sold. One example was a Nick Fury #1 that I had priced at $350 in VF/NM (9.0) and after checking sold it for $150.

This was a $75 loss for me. Also sold a ASM #6 FN/VF (7.0) that was priced for $2000 for $1450. a $50 loss.

Tough times for dealers. Most have had to pay up for quality material. Especially in the past year or two. Like any collectible, sometimes you have to suck up a few losses and hopefully make it up in volume.

Probably why I’m more of a buyer rather than a seller. And with because todays prices, I’m selling more than I am buying…

That's a very nice-looking convention set-up.  Nice, wide aisles and good lighting.  Congrats to the organizers.
