Static #1 Newsstand 1 1

Anyone know how many copies of Static #1 graded are newsstand editions? I know the platinum edition is a limited print and has only 68 copies graded so far in a 9.8, are the newsstand editions in high grade even more rare than the platinum edition? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a 9.8 newsstand of Static 1.

Newsstands are not on the CGC Census yet.

(There are exceptions like Spawn #9 and cover price variants, but Static #1 is not one of those exceptions.)

It still doesn’t account for the fact that very high grade newsstand editions of Static 1 in a 9.8, even 9.6, rarely pop up, and certainly seem tougher to find in high grade than other editions, including the platinum edition. Maybe in a few years the census will reflect more accurate data, in the meantime I’m keeping my eyes peeled for high graded newsstand copies of Static 1, which also has the superior cover imo.

The Newsstand edition of this book is going to be harder to find in high grade, there were at least two known sales of 9.8 copies last year on eBay.  There is no census split as of yet, there is also a learning curve still going on with getting Newsstand correctly listed on the label.

I think high grade newsstand editions of this book are going to end up being the most valuable, they may not be the most rare, but I wager they are the most rare in high grade, I’m talking 9.8, maybe even 9.6.

I've seen someone post over on the Milestone Facebook group that they're aware of 3. Someone there posted a photo of theirs, and ComicTom often has one as part of his backdrop in videos, so I've seen at least 2 (if not in person).

I think people are waking up to this fact, a CGC 9.6 newsstand edition of Static 1 just sold on eBay for $400. It would be interesting to see what a 9.8 would sell for.

Compared to what? Are you saying you don't like the Direct-exclusive Collector's Edition (whose cover was slightly altered for the Platinum Edition)? That's fine, but if that's the case, the cover you like is just the regular edition, available in both Direct and Newsstand.

Someone is going to be disappointed here. The description indicates Newsstand, and the main pic is a Newsstand, but that appears to be a stock image, and the second image is a Direct, and the seller confirmed via message that it's a Direct.
