cchunn3
In my research I have come across a couple terms I'm not absolutely sure about. "Feathering" - I assume this is when the edge of the pages get slightly fuzzy? "Ticks" - (spine ticks) from usage, I assumed this was the small creases that creep into the cover from the spine being stressed. I started using the term but I wanted to clarify. Is a "tick" just a fleck of color or does it include the crease snaking away? Thanks!

Some terms may be adopted from book collecting, so are just in the zeitgeist. I haven't seen the term "color rub" used in the CGC book for example, but it's pretty ubiquitous. The book calls this either ink loss or scuffing.
