How much does distributor overspray affect grades? Talking about just a faint whiff to noticeable from looking straight on at the cover.Not when it goes say past 1/2 to 1 inch down the cover.

In general I would say probably not at all but would have to counter with:What is the approximate grade of the book ignoring the ink spray? Not sure if it would reduce an otherwise 9.8 down a notch. But if your book is 7.0 or less I'd say with some confidence, no effect.

It really does depend on the amount---I've seen books graded 9.6 with a small amount of distro ink.

I think that if you begin to recognize the default amount of spray that was used, you begin to use that as your starting point. Then you'd factor how much width of the paper was over-sprayed, how deep, etc.
