PGM Powers of X #4 spine 1 1

Hello all, I just have a quick question, I'm new to the forums and hope this is the right place.

Does this spine wear look like it by itself would knock a comic below a Near Mint grade? The entire length of the spine looks like this. I got this comic on the internet and it isn't quite what I expected it to be, and I'm wondering what others think about it. The seller called this comic "near mint" and I personally wouldn't call this near mint in terms of eye appeal, nothing to do with grading necessarily. Am I being too picky? I'm sorry if this is a dumb question.

It's a MFG defect caused by the ink splitting when the cover is bent after being printed. Allowable up to 9.8, including the NM ranges.

Not familiar with the book. Is it card stock?
