That is just one really long tweet that goes over the character limit.  Is this par for the course with what passes as an "article" on that website? Because its :spoon:

Yep, structurally is not well written but that is the new normal

Never thought possible but a decent accurate post at gocollect, unlike their normal tripe usually from Tuck who shamelessly hypes up what he seeks to sell.

This article would’ve been prescient 18 months ago, now it’s just (bleep) that anyone paying attention already knows.

Including the imaginary Con attendee who suddenly yells “Marvel’s Big Bad is just Bad and Sad…”?

One day the writer will discover the internet and realize there are forums where all his investigative reporting insights were long-ago covered by people who weren't even attending a convention in Michigan.  It's gonna blow his mind.

Short version: Only banks are making money.

Longer version: Sure, summer time is usually slow, but there's more happening with the economy. Less discretionary spending is not only relating to affordability issues (increase in gas prices right through to putting food on your table), but specs aren't interested in buying to flip on borrowed money given the high interest rates.

Many of the things he describes are happening across most major collecting categories, so this isn't anything specific to comics.

There is no way to gather data on how consumer spending is being impacted by high interest rates, at least not in terms of changes they've made to gas consumption or food purchases. However the mortgage in arrears data tells quite the story on why this whole notion of raising interest rates to fight inflation is a lie, and at least here in Canada, is solely intended for banks to earn another record year of profits. When people can't keep up with bills and are on the cusp of losing their homes, the last thing they are going to do is continue collecting.
