scburdet Posted August 23, 2023 Share Posted August 23, 2023 I can't make out the spine wear you reference. Sometimes books have fraying to varying degrees at the fold. IDK if that's what you're seeing. If you post more detail photos, like a side-on view, it might help. I have an Heir to the Empire 1 with some spine fraying that came in a 9.6. I think the decision to grade depends on what you plan to do and risk aversion. The difference between the FMV of 9.6/9.8 and grades lower is significant.
