Are they worth grading????

You find these all the time at yard sales and garages sales. They are worth anywhere from a quarter to a buck.

The only marvel card you MIGHT consider grading is Deadpools as it seems to get sales. Or if you got 10s on every card which unless you know cards inside and out, you could end up wasting a lot of money to only get 9s and not be able to sell them for half of what you paid to grade em.

It’s not a ton of cards, you can look up sold prices on eBay and reasonably compare across grading companies, cgc is a bit tougher.

but unfortunately for card grading, centering is a huge issue even if everything is shiny and sharp.  So unless you’re an expert on card grading conditions, probably not worth the attempt

but as stated if you’re an expert and you’re sure you got perfect 10.0 or high nines (depending on the grading company), sure throw some disposable income into the economy.

Whoever listed that has no clue what that card is worth. I can ASK for $2 million for my mint copy of XForce 1, that doesn’t mean it’s worth that bc people won’t actually pay that. If you search by ebay SOLD listings, you can find that exact same card in that exact same grade (by a far far far more reputable grading company) SOLD just last week for $22.

That exact same card graded 1 grade lower sold twice this month for $5 each time. It costs $20 to grade a card so you can do the math.

They are in mint condition. Just wanted some expert opinions if these are valuable

Market value will vary depending on:

  • Is the card raw/ungraded or third-party certified/graded?  As has already been noted, "nice looking / minty" raw cards often sell for $2 or less.
  • If third-party certified/graded, what is the grade (and possibly which company did the grading).  A Gem-Mint 10 specimen will almost certainly have a market value that exceeds the cost of certification, but sales of $100 or more are fairly rare.  Sales in the $25~50 for Gem-Mint 10 specimens are typical.  And cards certified with grades less than 10 will most likely not be worth the cost of certification.  Please note that a card's grade will depend on more than just the degree of handling wear (and includes features that are 100% production-related).  Here's a primer on card grading: link.
  • If third-party certified/graded as a Gem-Mint 10, how many other such specimens exist for that specific card number.  You need to look at the Population Report (or Census) maintained by the grading company.  Here's an example: link.
  • The quantity/quality of the bidders/buyers who see your auction/BIN listing (as well as their comfort with you as a reputable/trustworthy seller).

Finally, when using eBaay to estimate market value, be certain to review actual sales (including the cost of shipping), not "for sale" listings.  Here's an appropriate link for your items.  Good luck!  :foryou:

Hi,

There is a lot that goes into grading a card. To your visual eye you think the cards are mint but then you will need to look at:

-edges of the card

-surface of the card

-corners

-centering (needs to be exact)

-front and back

-time frame to send in a card have it graded and returned to you versus the change in value of the market. There was a very brief period in time where the 199x Impel Marvel cards were worth something, not any more.

-value of the graded card by the various companies that grade: which company tends to be the best value?

A card fresh out of a pack you just opened may not be a 9.0 and is very likely even lower

You have to hit above 9 to make the Marvel cards worth considering and even then they most likely are not worth the risk in paying to get the card graded hoping to hit a 10.

If you are truly interested in this industry you could buy a few graded examples of cards (cheap ones) so you can learn what may make a card high enough grade to consider sending in.

Here is a link to a sold 1991 Thanos psa 9 graded card as an example:
