Popular Post Jayman
I’ve collected these at the lowest of priorities over the years and was down to needing 3 more issues to complete the 1-12 run. Issue 1 was actually one of the last I needed. Complete with poster. Brandon Shepherd, oakman29, bounty_coder and 13 others 15
Popular Post Jayman
These stories originally were published in Spain by Buru Lan and featured other stories and anthologies that did not make the cut for the English versions. One of these was a humor strip featuring Dracula. That is the only reason I’ve learned why this is the title of the book even though Dracula never appears in any of the stories. bounty_coder, batmiesta, oakman29 and 6 others
Popular Post Jayman
These oversized issues contain such great art by Enrich Torres, Esteban Maroto, José Beá, Carlos Giménez, Alberto Solsona and Enric Sió. The covers by Enrich are so nice. I’ve seen two variations of issue 3. One being more brownish with the girl having flesh tones, and a more overall reddish cover like mine above. Popular Post Jayman
I absolutely love all the painted covers but I think issue 5 is my favorite. Popular Post Jayman
Some of the ongoing stories contained within were Wolff the Barbarian, a sword and sorcery tale. Agar-Agar was a strangely psychedelic tale with a heavy 70’s feel. chevalmeow, oakman29, The Lions Den and 3 others

Popular Post Jayman
Issue 8 is sadly the last painted cover for the series. TupennyConan, The Lions Den, chevalmeow and 3 others
Popular Post Jayman
These books are roughly 9x12 in size, so a bit difficult to store. They are bigger than the average magazine so bags and boards become a problem. I think this may be the reason they are not more popular with collectors. However the paper quality is very good. aardvark88, batmiesta, chevalmeow and 3 others
Popular Post Jayman
As I read through the issues, I did notice that some stories appear in the Warren mags. The story “Invasion” was in an issue of Eerie. The Lions Den, batmiesta, chevalmeow and 3 others
Popular Post Jayman
The artwork inside these issues could be described as dated by some and I would agree. It is also elegant, psychedelic, harsh and moving. It’s a reminder (at least to me) of the Spanish influence that revitalized many comic mags in the 70’s. chevalmeow, batmiesta, TupennyConan and 2 others
Popular Post Jayman
Issue 12 was the last. Apparently it was not as popular in the UK as it was in Spain and was cancelled. bounty_coder, chevalmeow, TupennyConan and 3 others
Popular Post Jayman
Warren tried to compile these issues into a trade paperback book in 1972. The first book contains issues 1-6 but did not sell as expected and never finished the set. The book however is spectacular in its own right with its bold magenta cover. Many of these books suffer from the glue on the spine deteriorating, which results in the pages falling out. Popular Post Jayman
And now my showpiece of the set. This is a book I only became aware of about 3 years ago and every time I’ve seen one it was in the poorest quality. I was surprised that New English Library made a hard bound Annual that contained all 1-12 issues in the same high quality paper as the individual issues. Ironically I found this within days of getting the last issue I needed to complete the set. For the Annual, I took a chance on a 0 feedback seller with a BIN. The book looked in great condition and it was. I researched the seller who had a bookstore in the UK so I decided to risk it. Seller was great, provided overseas tracking and it arrived very quickly and is currently my most prized tome! I present the NEL Dracula Annual. it is a thick book!
