Future X-Title: "Kitty Pryde: FagHag"?

Man, I can't believe they did that. I'm not in anyway opposed to having characters be gay. For instance, I actually like how it works out in Young Avengers.

Who's gay in the Young Avengers? I've never bought or read the title.

Young Avengers is a good read, IMHO. I recommend picking it up.

The Hulking and Asgardian are gay (Hulk and Thor versions). It was hinted at in the first few issues but finally revealed a month or two ago.

The sadest part is how many people won't read a good book because of the gay content. Reading the letters at the end of the pages has been "enlightening" to say the least. And when I say "gay content", there are no "scenes" or homoerotic panels.

Kind of makes the word Asgardian irrelevent, doesn't it. He's not exactly doing any a**-guarding. foreheadslap.gif

Why is that sad? It's the basis of our culture - freedom - in this case, freedom of choice. You don't like it, you don't have to buy it.

You seem to think everyone should be forced to buy something they do not want to read? There's a word for that....

JC, I can't believe you took that the wrong way. It has nothing to do with someone just not wanting to buy comics. It has to do with people who had in the past been reading a particular book, but then ceases to do so due to slight homosexual content. You know, all those small minded people out there.

If you do not want to read homosexual content, you do not have to, and it hardly comes down to being "small minded". It's freedom buddy, pure and simple.

I think it's great that Marvel is creating some queer characters, but please don't say that everyone must buy it, or that if you don't buy it, you're somehow "small minded". That's just plain stupid.

I don't NOT read the Young Avengers because of the gay content (this is the first I've heard of it), I don't read it because I thought the concept of the entire series was stupid from the first day I heard about it.

I don't care about whether the content is gay or straight. In the GL title that ended with #181, Kyle Rayner's assistant, Terry, is gay, and there was a storyline about him getting beaten up & hospitalized because he was gay. So, gay or straight content doesn't matter to me. What I want is GOOD content.

The premise of the book is corny. I mean, young versions of Ant Man, Cap, Iron Man/Vision, and Hawkeye. But it's an excellent book. Very well written. The art is pretty good too. And I'm liking the development of the origin of Hulkling.

I feel the same way as Hobgobby. It was originally a corny premise but has been a solid reader with great art (love Cheung). We all know it was Marvel's attempt to copy the success of Teen Titans. I would say that copying Teen Titans is a hard feat but Liefeld ruined that (still like the book, just a cheesy 2-parter). One thing that worked well for the success of Young Avengers, was the timely demise of the original Avengers and some of the team members. Gives us a fix for some of the characters that died without revamping the original character.

JC, you are seriously a tool. Any excuse for an arguement.

Pat

He can be a tool, but he is right. Freedom reigns stronger than anyones beliefs whether they are deemed right or wrong by society.

I'm guessing his boyfriend is Wolverine. Had to be a reason for the Fastball Special. Okay, bad joke. yay.gif

Pat

yeah, but this is the Ultimate Universe. This isn't the same Colossus that died in Uncanny X-Men and came back in Astonishing recently. This is Ultimate Colossus, who has a completely different story.

Kitty Pryde never went out with this Colossus. She had a brief stint with Iceman, and now is supposedly going out with Spidey.

and people complain that the regular Marvel universe has continuity problems.

Better than a Socialist forcing their "gay books" to be read by everyone. I believe in freedom, while you obviously do not.

So if a book (comic or otherwise) has a few pages on same-sex relationships then it's a "gay book?" Is Plato's Symposium a "gay book?" Is Augustine's Confessions a"gay book?" Is a work with no mention of gay/lesbian behavior a "straight book?" confused.gif

JC,

Take your own advice. You know nothing about modern comics. You don't like modern comics. Every time you post in Modern, it's argumentative and you do the same thing you blame Shrunken for (taking a few words out of a string as if you know what's going on and make it something it is not). Seriously, it's all negative and you don't like Modern, why are you here? To be a thorn in other's sides?
