John Byrne for the defense

12 posts in this topic

I don't know how many of you read the daily Funky Winkerbean strip but one of the characters John, who owns a comic shop, is on trial for selling an adult comic to a "child". John Byrne was a witness for the defense.

The archives on this site only go back to Nov. 4 and the story line started before that but you can pick up the gist of it if you start on Nov. 12

It looked like he was on trial for selling an adult comic to an adult, no? Don't want to make it looke like Byrne is in favor of selling "porn" to kids....

Oh, maybe I was just confused - I thought the lady bought the comic book and the "adult" (that looked like a child) was just in the store at the same time.

Your orignal quote said that the comic store sold an adult comic to a child, which is totally different than selling an adult comic to an adult.

You're right, it does sound that way. I "fixed" it.

Glad you liked it. thumbsup2.gif

It's the kind of joke I make in here everyday, and I thought it was highly amusing the author would poke fun at the total lack of kids buying comics.

I have to say when I go to my LCS there are few kids there but a surprising number of teens .

Same here, but NONE of them are buying comic books. But my LCS is more of an "entertainment center" with probably 1/10 (used to be 1/2, used to 1/3...) of the store devoted to comics.

I wonder if, in a year, they'll even sell comics.... confused-smiley-013.gif

Welcome to the downloadable, file-sharing world. Teens today don't look to buy, unless they definitely can't find a way to download it for free, whatever it may be.
