Popular Post g-man
Came across this book I have had for years but never read…really nice job by Spurlock to capture Infantino’s work and place in history…from his early years to the silver age Flash and Batman/Batgirl to his influence on other creators. Good stuff if you find a copy. B2D327, ADAMANTIUM, comicjack and 6 others
Popular Post VintageComics
I've posted this story many times before. I was at the Motor City con in the Detroit area about 12 (may have been longer - like) 14 years ago and I see Carmine Infantino sitting there and NOBODY is talking to him. Nobody cared. It was like having one of the Beatles sitting there being ignored. So I went up and got to talk to him for 20 minutes with no interruptions. I couldn't believe it. Even if I wasn't a DC guy, I'd have been an IDJIT to not appreciate his contributions for nearly single handedly fueling some of the greatest storytelling in the hobby. I ended up buying a book as a gift for a best friend who was the largest DC fan. So happy I got to do that. Popular Post fmaz
Couldn’t agree more that he’s underrated/unappreciated. As far as I’m concerned he’s a legend just for two facts alone: 1. His character/rogues gallery-defining run on Flash; 2. The fact that without him, the favorite book of my childhood (and arguably the first and biggest event book of the 70’s) might never have existed - Superman vs Spider-Man. I’m very happy to have a piece of his OA hanging on my wall - from his Nova run. It was something I didn’t love at the time but as I grew older I liked it more and more until it went onto my want list! Popular Post namisgr
He did some terrific work on the Adam Strange run in Mystery In Space. His pencils really stood out when inked by Murphy Anderson, and they produced some truly memorable covers and interior art. Got him to sign a couple of Flash issues and a copy of Archives Vol 1 (can’t afford a Showcase 4). Very lonely-looking at his table, a pity for such an iconic creator, and a missed opportunity for many as he was great to chat with. Popular Post KCOComics
One of my favorite pieces in my collection is the cover art for HOS134 by Ernie Chan. This issue came out in the mid 70s when Carmen was an editorial director for DC and at the bottom, there is a handwritten note (presumably by Carmen) "Approved by CI". He's one of many many artists I regret not taking the time to meet.
