Alright, here we go. The Chuck Connors story will tie in to another story involving the actor Richard Anderson, who appeared on several episodes of The Rifleman, and was Oscar Goldman in the Six Million Dollar Man, and the Bionic Woman. He appeared in tons of old shows from Gunsmoke, Thriller, you name it.

Talked to my brother this morning and neither of us can pin point the year. It was probably 1988/89 some where in there. There was a Holiday Inn, or a Radisson Inn on South Halsted in Homewood, Illinois just south of Interstate 80. They were having a baseball card/comic convention there over the weekend. I really wasn't into cards, but they were having some baseball stars there, Chuck Connors, and I forgot who else. I was a decent size show, for that time.

So my brother had brought this new horse saddle with him ( have no idea why), and was going to have Chuck Connors sign it, and maybe a few others.

There was this long line of kids to get an autograph from Johnny Bench. He was charging $40.00 for a signature. That was alot of money then, and I thought is was kind of sh eety charging kids that much, but it was what it was. My brother gets in line to see Bench first and see if he'll sign his saddle. He waits in line, gets up there, and Bench says " I'm not signing that." Very arrogant. LOL.

So we go get in line to see Chuck Connors. I thought maybe Chuck had had a few drinks, because he looked like he was having a great time. Hugging all the women, kissing them on the cheeks, letting people take pictures. A real cool guy.

So we get up there, and my brother tells Connors what happened with Johnny Bench. Now the area where the baseball players were, was on the other side of the building in a back room. Chuch Connors tells everyone in line, I'll be right back, hold on. He picks up this saddle and tells us "lets take a walk".

Now there was still a pretty long line for Bench to get autographs. Chuck Connors walks up to the table Bench is at, puts the saddle down and says "sign it". We're like WTF. Bench didn't say sh eet.. He signs the saddle, Connors picks it up and tells Bench, " that was on the house", and walks away. I thought we were going to pizz our pants.

We get back to Chuck Connors booth, and he asks our names and where we were from. He talked with us about 5 minutes. He wrote something on a piece of paper and handed it to my brother. It was the address to his ranch. He said, you guys ever out that way stop by and see me. Looking back, I wish we had taken him up on it.

I'll try and get the other part of this story that spans about 20 years to 2010 when I met Richard Anderson, and talked with him about Chuck Connors at Wizard Chicago. Later.

Never threw a match is a good line, for plot twists and having not seen it, it sounds interesting with that kind of a backdrop.

So I'm at Richard Anderson's booth. Super nice guy and very, very well spoken. We start talking about Chuck Connors. I tell him the saddle story. He got a big kick out it. He then says something to the effect, well you know we liked to partake in a beverage during work, as he went through the motions of taking a drink.

Got a picture with him, but I look like some kind of kook in it. Just a bad pic so I blocked my face out. Check out the shirt I have on.

I go over to Laura VanDervoort. No one at her table. I always chat it up with these girls, and try not to act like 90% of the dorks that walk up and say stupid krap while they have drool coming out of the side of there mouth.

So I walk up and look around and said,"is this area under quarantine or something". WTF is going on. We started shooting the krap about her job and this and that. Super, super nice, and very friendly. I wanted to tell her I loved her but my daughter was right there. She took the pic. Now this one turned out great.

See you guys this evening. I'm rolling in ten.

One more of my worthless con stories coming up before kick off. This one involved Sandra Taylor the Playmate. I think she was in one of the Steven Segal movies too. I had to find a photo that I had to hide away from the X and the kids. I don't know if anyone has ever seen it.

It's kind of  risque, but I think it will slide. Hang on. Scanning a few pics now.

Okay, another b.s. story, from The X-Files. Last one. Another Wizard Show, Chicago.

I don't remember what year this was. Anyway, I go up to Sandra Taylor's table. She was a Playboy Playmate, and was in one of Steven Segal's early movie's

Now my daughter was with me again, so I always had to be careful what I was saying to these women. And she watched everything like a hawk. She might have been 15/16.

Anyway, Kevin Nash (WWF) was there too b.s.ing with Sandra Taylor. Nice guy. He kind of was just walking around talking to people. So I walk up to the table looking at the photos and stuff she has. She's staring a hole through my mid section. Then it hit me, she was reading this shirt I had on. It said "I'M REALLY EASY TO GET ALONG WITH - AS LONG AS YOU PEOPLE WORSHIP ME".

She was cracking up, and asked me where I got it. I didn't remember. She said "I want that shirt". I said okay. But first I got to get a decent pic with her, and she signed it, as you can see in the first picture.

I then went over to a vendor that sold shirts right next to where she was, bought a Marvel shirt, put it on, put the shirt I had in the bag and took it back and gave it to her. I said "make sure you wash it first because I'm dirty". She was cracking up, but snatched that shirt up. Now my daughter is watching this whole thing, so I was being careful what I said.

Before we left she had her arm around me and said, "swing back around later." She had another photo she wanted to give me, but couldn't put it on the table. I broke into a cold sweat. I went back about 15 minutes later, and had to distract my daughter when she slide the second pic into my carry case. I didn't even look at it. When I did I'm like 'Holy K rap" LOL. She signed it too.

This thing has been hidden away for a long time. I don't know if I ever showed it to anyone. Second pic could be offensive and R rated. I always squint or close my eyes for pics as you can see.

Maybe later after the contest I'll post a few more b.s. convention stories from the past. One with Terri Runnels from the WWF, and another one with Layla Milani, from deal or no deal, and maybe Erin Gray, from Buck Rogers. LOL.

I had a blast flirting around with these girls and getting pics with them.
