Found comic 2 2

Was going through some of my old totes of items passed down from my Grandparents/Dad and came across this gem.   Google search shows it may be somewhat of a rare comic?  Any information on what I have here and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Indeed you have a comic that’s rare.  The word “rare” is used, and I would even say misused, frequently in this hobby. But it is a word that applies to what you have. There are very few copies known to exist.

In the comic book world, rarity isn’t the only determinant of an item’s value.  For an item to command a good price, it needs to have a certain amount of scarcity, and also be in demand. You are fortunate that the item you have also is in demand. It is an anti-VD comic that was published by EC Comics. EC Comics is a legendary publisher, and many collectors are actively looking for items published by EC Comics. 

If you go to the Heritage Auctions website, and search for past sales of “K. O. Punch“ (the periods are important), you will see that there have been two copies auctioned at that site.  One copy, in nicer condition than the one you have, sold for just north of $5000.

KCOComics:  My grandfather and Dad were both from Iowa.  My Dad was also in the Army right around this time frame as well.  My intent will likely be to have it graded and resell.  I also have an old Elgin pocket watch from 1893 that my great grandfather bought and had engraved.  I could use the money from the comic to get the pocket watch restored and working so that I can pass it on to my Boys some day!

"Art by Jack Kamen and Al Feldstein. A public-health giveaway from EC, back when the company was still run by Max Gaines and called "Educational Comics." The story issues a strong warning against infidelity and the risk of sexually transmitted diseases, then called "venereal disease." Handsome boxer Al Jackson is a champ in the ring, but his marriage with Jeanie suffers because of his travels and wild lifestyle. But when Jeanie gets pregnant and tests positive for syphilis, he gets serious fast. Produced by EC for the Columbia University Press, and probably distributed to schools, military bases and the like; only a handful are known to survive. 16 pages, Full Color."
