Dave,

Is this going to be setting a trend ? - Will this be happening at the Boston show ?

Already happened. The Boston Comic Book Spectacular was the first to adopt a no bootleg policy last Winter after the "video boys" went too far and dominoes fell along the East Coast.

I would like to get the boards opinion of what a "bootleg" is though. The opinions vary from current releases to anything the seller does not own the rights to. What is your opinion and do bootleg videos have a place at the shows?

New York already has at least 2 major multi-genre shows that include comic books and I am a customer of both as Monkeyhouse Entertainment. This is for Comic Book and Comic Book art collectors only as in simpler times. The other shows should not be threatened by a one day "Comic Book" show. Many collectors and dealers have asked me about a simple one day show for years and it will compliment the other shows.

The show will have a good amount of all ages comics from Golden to recent releases and no kibitzers will be allowed in before the public.

The recent Philly show had a pretty annoying bootlegger that continually tried to get my attention to buy his knockoff DVDs.

We are hoping to bring back the spirit of the one day New York City Comic Book shows that were held by Great Eastern Conventions in the late 80's and early 90's before they imploded(with a bit of help). There are many fans and dealers who want to come to New York for one day for a comic show. This will be fun and the response has been great. It is a small show but it is New York City's only Comic Book only show. Please e-mail any questions, comments or suggestions

Thanks Dave, the show sounds great. Email headed your way!

Jon

Glad to hear! The response to the announcement of a one day "comic book show" in New York City has been met by much enthusiasm by not only current fans and dealers but by those who have been out of the hobby since the demise of Great Eastern Conventions one day shows. There is room in NYC for both a one day comic book show and the Big Apple variety.

Primate Promotions will be giving out free passes for the March 12 Comic Book Only show at the New York Comic-Con February 24-26 at the Javits Center. We will be set up at the Monkeyhouse Entertainment booth. 1 pass per customer with a $1 purchase. We have a couple of tables left for Comic Book dealers, Golden and Silver preferred as modern comics are already covered. It has been a long time since there has been a "Comic Book" show in the worlds greatest city and there will be a lot of fun and maybe a few surprises.

I see the same guy at heroescon every year who sell all the old tv shoes, cartoons and the hottest star wars fan subs. I keep waiting for the joker to get picked up but he's there every year.
