Jesse-Lee Posted April 21 Share Posted April 21 I got this really nice-looking Batman #152 for pretty cheap today ($10) because they said it had added staples (and it does have 4 staples). But these look to be really well done, in my non-experienced opinion. They're well aligned with the spine and very hard to notice. But in the center spread, they do kind of look different or maybe newer. Is there a chance this was done when manufactured, or is this just a pretty nice job of adding staples by someone after the fact? It's odd too because the book is nice and tight and complete, so I'm not sure why extra staples would have been needed... Do you see any adhesive/glue or tape on the inside cover? The tiny hole above the lowest staple gives me pause. I don't see glue, but on the inside cover sides (front and back) it does look like enlarged original staple holes, which could explain why someone might have re-stapled it. I'm glad the seller disclosed it, because it's a pretty nice staple job - it's very hard to see from first glance until the book is out of the bag. Again, either way it's fine with me - it's a great looking copy and it's staying in my collection, so for $10 I'm definitely happy with it. Thanks for the insights! It looks like the added staples were a skillfully performed preventative/prophylactic repair. Paul Kosnik Posted April 23 Share Posted April 23 Agree with @zzutak these are probably not from factory, and thought it was worth elaborating that the way we know is the staples don't all match, you have two distinct pairs. Although stapling errors/extra staples can occur at the factory, the staples will tend to all match. At any rate, it was very nicely done and a nice comic book!
