There appears to be a long light crease through the bottom BLC, most noticeable around the butt of the gun and plane. 7.0 max

4.0- 5.0  I see some tears and color rub and long creases on back. Amazing eye appeal.

I think what you're seeing is really dirt. This book needs to be cleaned by someone who knows what they are doing.

There is 6.5 potential because dirt is the main problem. But probably not higher with the creasing.

How much of that dirt has become soiling is not possible to ascertain until a thorough cleaning is done.

I hesitate to say 7.0 with that crease between the "L" and "Superman" on the front cover, but it's not totally out the question

after a P&C to see how it looks, so get it done.

thanks, yeah I see.. so hard to grade a book this DIRTY with just images. The more i look, the more I say I really don't see 6.5 potential.

Looking more at that section on the cover in the lamp and under it also. I don't know if I can totally bar consideration of 6.0.

When books are this dirty it's hard to tell what's going to come off. For example the dirt spot under the green chair. And inside the lamp bulb, where there is a light crease that will look a lot better if it cleans off. If everything worked out best as possible do you still think the panels on the BC and that little ink loss on kids prohibit any consideration of 6.0?. The panels are in word balloons so there's probably some dirt stuck on the damage there that makes it look worse.

How much is true ink and/or paper loss? If I had to grade it NOW I would go 5.0 but I think 4.5 is harsh.

Sometimes I don't know if posters are asking what the potential is or what it is in state.

I grade honestly assuming the poster might be purchasing the book

It seems to me a lot of posters lately are more interested in how high the book could go than what it IS in their photos.
Which is really a bit much to ask.

OK Folks.  Truth time.  I wasn't trying to fool anybody or anything, I was just wondering if it was obvious or not.   This book and the Jimmy Olsen #1 I posted are both restored.

It was done in 1996.  Included cleaning, seal spine split, replace pieces to cover edges as needed, seal tears, (That is what you see on the back cover), Color touch if necessary, and Press.

Normally I don't ever even consider purchasing restored books.  But, my LCS got these as part of a large collection.  I would not spend $5-10k on these books but to be able to grab them, even

though restored, at about $1,000 each I couldn't pass it up.  I would probably never own them otherwise.
