The JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY (THOR) cover by Kirby and Wood fetched $23,000 in the November 2003 Heritage auction. Unless KK knows differently, I'm unaware of any earlier (surviving) JIM covers

 

Hans Kosenkranuis owns the JIM # 1 ANNUAL cover original. As far as I'm aware, it's available to buy . . .

That's the price I heard. Here's a scan of the original (which was cleaned up and restored, incidentally):

 

 

As you can see, Thor and Hercules are original, with a number of stats representing the reprint stories. This doesn't detract from the fact it's a superb early Kirby THOR cover
