Anyone want to chime in and help put together a community Top 100 list for modern newsstands?  If I somehow missed a similar list somewhere, I'd be happy to delete this thread.  Here is a rough attempt at a Top 20.  What do you all think?

  1. Ultimate Fallout #4
  2. Star Wars: The Clone Wars #1
  3. Batman Adventures #12
  4. Amazing Spider-Man #300
  5. New Mutants #98
  6. Captain Marvel #14
  7. Amazing Fantasy #15
  8. Uncanny X-Men #266
  9. Batman Beyond #1
  10. Spawn #9
  11. Amazing Spider-Man #371
  12. Vengeance #1
  13. Thor: God of Thunder #2
  14. Spawn #1
  15. X-Men #4
  16. New X-Men #128
  17. Ultimate Fantastic Four #22
  18. Batman #655/656
  19. Hulk #1
  20. Justice League #31

I know its super subjective, and I'm not trying to talk anyone out of anything, but what's the rationale behind Batman Adventures 1?  I think most people would rank BA 12 above that one.  Similarly, I'm not a super expert, but Amazing Spiderman 371 doesn't immediately make me think "wow", is the newsstand know to be super rare or anything?

Also, I'd probably put ASM 298, 299, 301 on the list too, probably above some of these.

But are we talking value or rarity? In high grade or generally?

Otherwise are we just talking about key comics from a specific time period?

I'm not sure if any of the following are Top 20 worthy, but I'd think somewhere in the Top 100 at least:

  • Killing Joke 6th print newsstand (the only printing with an actual, printed newsstand barcode on the cover)
  • Batman 1 New 52 (this could be in the running for Top 20 maybe)
  • Batman 635
  • Batman 666
  • Batman 457 2nd print newsstand (this is probably Top 20 worthy due to its relative scarcity and value)

Also, is the "Amazing Spider-Man #371" in the list above supposed to be 361? 1st Carnage?

What's the methodology for this? Value? "Rarity"? Hard-to-find ness?

ASM 300 newsstand is a big dollar book but there's a lot of them.

Just some ideas from me.  I own a copy of all these so I know they exist:

Deadpool: Merc with a Mouth #7  (1st Lady Deadpool)

Deadpool #1 (1997, 1st solo Deadpool series)

Harley Quinn #1 (2000, 1st solo Harley series)

Power Girl #27 (amazing Warren Louw cover)

Batgirl #12 (amazing Artgerm cover)

Wonder Woman #184 (amazing Hughes cover)

Secret Wars #8 (black suit)

ASM #316 (1st full Venom cover)

ASM #361 (1st Carnage)

ASM #700

Spider-Men #1 and #2 (Peter and Miles meet each other officially in #2, but some people have the awful take that it's #1)

Star Wars: Heir to the Empire #1  (1st Thrawn & Mara Jade)

X-Men Origins: Deadpool one-shot

Black Panther #2 (1st Shuri)

Batman #608-619 (the entire Hush series - so happy I finished this one)

Doesn't have to be the Newsstand but can you post the picture of the babygirl warren low comic?

I see a #12 artgerm and a #23 Middleton. (shrug)

First I would clear up what you mean by "modern newsstands" especially if you are going to include copper /bronze as these are not modern.

That said it would be easier just to make a top 100 newsstand list and not put age range on it as it really doesn't change the list that much.

Ok. So 3 that should be on the list are the 2nd print newsstands.

One already mentioned Batman 457 second print newsstand.

The others.

Spiderman #1 Gold "UPC"

Superman # 50 (2nd print ) newsstand

Aside from many of the others that are mentioned there are many newsstands that probably should be on the list but are either not a big enough interest or sales to establish value.  (A whole bunch of the late spawn newsstands)

or no known examples have been  found yet. (Wolverine #74 2009) Although even if some surfaced how much would it actually sell for and how long would those prices /interest sustain?

Another good example of this would be @Cpt Kirk

What were some of the hardest to find newsstands in your runs and do you believe those to actually be some of the rarest ?(top 100 choices)

or would you say that it was more just the sporadic availablity of some of the issues in grade that you were specifically hunting?
