FF Film Finally

allI can say is sheeesh. I finally sat down and watched it last night. Now I know its fashionable to trash a film as flawed as this (and easy) and for us comic fans, just as easy to celebrate a glass half full approach. But for me Overall, it was work to finish it. I enjoyed a few touches and technically it was a well-made effort. But it moved so slowly and to no avail. Aside from putting the FF in a movie finally, what else was it?

 

heres some comments, most of which have been made here already.

Thing was better than I imagined. I never believed he was made of rock instead of padded plastic, but, the facial expressions were extraordinarily lifelike, And the "coloring" of the body was as real looking as the best drawn and colored comics, achieving that "super-realistically illustrated" look the best covers have.

 

Jessica Alba is a very pretty girl. The movie definitely perked up whenever she was onscreen (the MOVIE perked up I said)

 

Johnny Storm was great. I always liked his "Youre hot" "I know -- So are you!" line from the commercials and he stayed in character all the way through.

 

Reed.... owwwch--- looked and acted either like a soap opera stiff not-so pretty boy all the way down to one of the delivery boys who "lucks out" in a cheap but "artistically-minded" porno film. He was horrible... but probably cheap to keep the costs down. Just dead weight.

 

Victor Doc Doom: oy. And who was his assistant? Was he ever identified?

 

Basically to me, the film never took off beyond telling the origin, discovering their powers, then fending off the Green Goblin, I mean yet another rich former friend gone bad after losing his riches and company and sanity. sleeping.gifzzzzzzzzzzz

 

Is this what Avi thinks we want to pay to see again and AGAIN??? or the studios? If I were writing th enext comic book adaptation, Id get the origin overwith in 2 minutes somewhere. Just tell enough so the few "outsiders" who really havent a clue how they got their powers wont leave the theatre complaining about a huge plot hole. And TELL A STORY not string together scenes.

 

When all is said and done (or this decade of superhero films is over) we all may realize that the entire comics industry really only came up with a very small handful of truly original and compelling characters: Spidey, Batman and Superman. The rest just work well enough on paper to keep around, but never transcend our imaginations.

Like all super-hero movies, the Fantastic Four movie was phenomenal. You just can't go wrong with comic book related movies and I'm looking forward to FF2! headbang.gif

 

I genuinely agree, and hope there's a DD2 movie as well. I hope Micah Synn features in it, too. And maybe the Serpent Squad. It will work!!!!

At least somebody on these boards drinks Malt liquor. Though, Eight Ball is the stuff to drink. I am surprised no one went as Choada Boy!!!

Do not mock the might of THE ALL POWERFUL EIGHT BALL!!! Besides, ever try Old English High Gravity. Now, that will knock off your feet!!!! Glad you didn't mention Ice House or Cobra or Crazy Horse. Mickey's is alright, I suppose. Colt is just a little too light for my tastes.
