I am a insufficiently_thoughtful_person.

Aren't you supposed to give your name first?

Isn't it supposed to be:

"Hi, I'm Greggy and I wear short shorts..."

or

"Hi, I'm Joanna and I am a writer..."

or

"Hi, I'm (choose name from user list) and I am a shill for Bugaboo"

i really don't understand why people chose deliberaly to buy from him, when they are aware of this type of situation... confused.gifconfused.gifconfused.gifforeheadslap.gif

good luck

Seriously. How many time has this happened? confused.gif

Well, how many individual transactions has 'House had? confused-smiley-013.gif

Like Rob said, someone with the time (and ambition) should put together a "record" of Lighthouse's transgressions. Needless to say, it is almost his standard operating procedure to take orders, get people's money, and then disappear for months on end.

Sadly, the last time this happened, people were still defending him out of some misguided sense of brotherhood or something. I wonder if we'll see that AGAIN this time.

Total individual transactions... 893scratchchin-thumb.gifmm... On the boards, I would put the number around 1700... Could be closer to 2100...

It was a well laid-out plan too... almost worth of the Underpants Gnomes...

And I would have gotten away with it too... if it hadn't been for those meddling kids...

I've only heard of two times when this happened. Once was when I first came around here. I think it was also affecting ebay at the time too because he made some offer of free TPB's if you left feedback right away before getting the books for his new ebay ID. The second time is now. I don't know how many people were affected either time.

I don't have any great familiarity with House, but those that do that I've conversed with confirmed my thoughts that while he's not necessarily the most prompt, that he's not out to rip anyone off. As always YMMV (your mileage may vary). I think it's just a matter of commitment. I've been in similar situations and it's easy to shirk online responsibilities since they're not "in your face". Doesn't make it right, but it is easier.

YMMV... cloud9.gif

Sorry, thought I was on the stripperweb forums for a moment... foreheadslap.gif

And actually, I am out to rip someone off... just haven't figured out who yet... Maybe the guy at the corner of Bowie and Commerce who says he'll work for food... 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

Hey light house I need you to PM me about the Ghost Rider slabs. I have your money and can't send it.

I will PM you later today... once I am done with this thread. I have your books set aside. thumbsup2.gif

Here are the facts as I know them. No spin -- just facts.

Over the past few years he's done hundreds of transactions with people on the boards.

When this happened last time I asked for board members to contact me and I would try to get their stuff squared away. From the number of people who were piling on back then I expected to get flooded.

I got PMs from a total of 12 people he owed merchandise to. Ten got refunds, two said he could take care of it when he got around to it, one was never heard from again.

He still has 30 pre-paid sets of Jim Lee Supermans to get to folks. As far as I know he is still planning to mail these out (considering I dropped off 120 issues to him back in January).

There are actually less than 20 sets left to fill, since many people took other routes..

I was one of the ones who House owed about $150 worth of stuff. I said I would wait until he was ready to work it out. We exchanged a couple e-mails, but it is still up in the air. I didn't want someone else to assume his debt, this is between him and I.

That being said, I did not order anything from this latest round of offerings because of my unsettled debt with him.

House has not posted in almost a months time, regardless of an excuse about internet trouble. There are plenty of places to send quick e-mails/PMs. It basically comes down to sloppy book-keeping, which is something he should have addressed before offering more books for sale.

I like House as a person, but ...

I like you too... flowerred.gif

And you know I will make good on that deal...

I assume the last order got to you okay?

...and what about the thousands of bucks he scammed off people here to invest in his TPB empire,...when do they get paid back?.. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif...

Be careful with your word choice there...

And in answer to your question... there were a total of eight people (other than myself) who materially participated in that venture. Four were as straight investors. Two made money. Two lost money. The other four were board members who provided funds via short-term loans. Two were with high interest rates (around 25% APR) for a specified short period of time. One was at a very high interest rate. The other was at no interest and a longer term. The two with high interest rates were paid off exactly on time. The one with a very high interest rate was paid off with a slight delay (less than two weeks). One of the board members who had loaned at a high interest rate chose to do so again in a larger amount.

When a clerical error on eBay billing shut the venture down just as it was getting rolling, three of us lost a lot of money (the other two investors had negotiated a percentage of profits from the first two shows and were already out). I lost more than anyone, but I had two investors who also took a bath (both of which have expressed interest in participating in my next store). That left two outstanding loans from board members. The one at no interest has been paid off. The other is in repayment. Unlike the two investors (and myself) who lost money outright, that board member is receiving all his money back, plus interest. When all is said and done, his return on his money will be in the 7.0-8.0% range.

Anyone will tell you that a loan offering a 25% APR in today's interest rate market carries a great deal of risk. The borrower would not be willing to offer that kind of return on a "safe" loan.

Mar 2004 - Feb 2005 was a rough year for me. That much is well publicized. And for over a year now I have been working to set things right, just as I always do.

The thing that gets me is, didn't he kind of rip/tick people off, then make amends and then come back, and now is basically ripping/ticking people off again?

To me, and this is just me but shouldn't this type of behavior make him UNABLE to post in the marketplace again?

Sure, they ban shills and what not, but if this guy is really taking people's money and getting away with it, then he really shouldn't be allowed to post.

Just my 2 nickels.

Ticking people off... yes

Taking people's money and getting away with it... no

And if ticking people off was a bannable offense this would be a very small board indeed...

That's a pretty danged good point. One that I hadn't considered, honestly...

Have you considered whether the border with Mexico should be turned into a giant slip-n-slide so that the illegal immigants would wind up all the way in Canada?

Bless them and their free healthcare... greggy needs some nachos.

I mean hey, my pay to play contests got some people pissed off. So, they made a rule about it and I stuck to it. While I don't think they have rules about ripping people off (goes without saying it shouldn't be allowed) they should have them and be enforced.

If I ripped someone off on here, or failed to deliver goods in a acceptable amount of time do I really think I would be allowed to post again? No, not ever. Now, if I come on, make amends swallow my pride and say sorry, sure everyone deserves a 2nd chance. If I screw up again, stick me and toss me on the BBQ I am done.

Mmmm... BBQ.

Maybe I am going off the handle too far, but if there is one thing I can not stand in this online world is it this.

You mean those popup windows that automatically direct you to tranny porn are okay? foreheadslap.gifpoke2.gif

You sell something, you ship something. Easy as that. If your a scammer or lazy, you can so sell you [embarrassing lack of self control] at the flea market because I will not have it.

Neither a scammer nor lazy... Occasionally incompetent, yes...

It's a sad day when the forum needs to create an

"Anti-Kudos" thread

......oh wait, this is the anti-kudos thread. :makepoint

And it sounds like deservingly so. frown.gif

Actually this is a sales thread for my TPBs... and technically all this is a hijacking...

But I gave explicit instructions that it was okay to bump the thread even with nonsense replies, so it's okay.

Don't get me wrong blutobc,

I can't say for sure if anyone got ripped off, or even delayed. However, to even have this thread questioning it, is enough for me.

Oh come on, Russ... having a thread questioning something is enough for you? I know you don't really mean that.

I am a self-admitted occasional slow-shipper. But please don't tell me that any thread questioning something is enough to make you believe it. Geez, Bugaboo will eat you alive if you admit something like that...

no problem, I was actually agreeing with you.

You had a rough start on the boards....but it seems that everything is hunky dory now with most members...imho because you learned and adjusted to what people want or expected from a comic seller.

LH doesn't seem to be learning any lessons. But some buyers are!!!!!!!

My issues are correctable...

Oh wait, that's probably what Ewert says when looking at 9.4 Pacific Coast copies... foreheadslap.gif
