METROPOLIS ACCEPTING CONSIGNMENTS!

For two decades, Metropolis has been recognized and renowned for obtaining

and selling the most sought after comic books and collections. Our

services have been enlisted by the private individuals who are the most

aggressive collectors in the market. If you're considering selling or

consigning your comic books, there is no company better poised than

Metropolis to help you realize the best return.

In today's market, the decision of just how to sell your comic books is

critical. Making the right choice is like walking a tightrope without a

net. Perhaps the most common pitfall novice sellers fall into is blindly

consigning to an auction house. We guarantee you will realize a higher

return on your investment by consigning with Metropolis. If you're

considering parting with your collection, and think an auction house is the

best way to go, we strongly advise you consider the following:

Do the Math. The commission rate an auction house charges you, the seller,

is typically 15%. However, the auction house will also charge the bidder a

"buyer's premium" of 15%. Make no mistake about it, a bidder in an auction

simply deducts that additional 15% from the final price they are willing to

pay. Bottom line: The auction house is taking nearly a 30% cut from each

and every transaction. By having their hand in

the pocket of both the bidder and the seller, the auction house ensures the

most profit for itself, while the consignor hemorrhages on their

investment. At Metropolis, our commission is on average less than half of

what others charge.

When you consign to Metropolis Collectibles, you have at your disposal the

services of the largest dealer of vintage comic books in the world. More

importantly, you benefit from the thousands upon thousands of long-term

customer relationships we've developed over the past 20 years. We're in it

for the long haul, and will work with you to develop a strategy that will

get you the highest return. We won't "square-peg" your collection into a

formula that doesn't fit. We will pursue the avenue or avenues that work

best for the comics you consign. Sometimes, that means selling your comics

to the private individuals who pay the very best for being offered the very

best. Oftentimes, we will arrange exclusive viewings at our showroom in

Manhattan. We also maintain thousands of want lists of customers waiting in

the wings for certain comic books to come to market - comic books that you

may have in your collection. Our Internet sales continue to double every

year, and our robust ecommerce business already boasts over 1 million hits

each month! If you're thinking of selling your comics, call Metropolis

Collectibles at

1-800-229-METRO (6387) ext. 14 or email consign@metropoliscomics.com for a

free consultation.

I remember hearing this time last year they were getting ready to unveil a new website. What happened with that? Maybe they can chime in for us.

As far opportunity knocking, couldn't think of a better time to send the email. I received it today and smiled. Makes sense but they do need a more user friendly website.

Unless they update their very non-functional, slow, and unfriendly web site so that consignments can be done in a convenient manner (ala highgradecomics, comiclink) then I don't see much becoming of this.

The overhaul of the Metropolis site is about 80% complete. Stay tuned for details.

How can you give us that blurb. I want a screen shot and I want details today. I give up looking sometimes because of the horrible search feature. I mean this a nice way. Just excited.

Soon, the Deathstar will be fully operational.

Steve and Vincent:

Good for you! The more competition in this hobby, the better. Heritage is obviously feeling pretty comfortable right now based on that ridiculous rate increase. I think you can make some noise.

And I guess it will be the ultimate power in the universe?

Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've (almost) constructed. The ability to crush your competitors is insignificant next to the power of FLOPPY SAGGIN TIME.

I went through their website today and I could have sworn that there was way more scans available than before?

Whooptie-doo. Most internet savy comic dealers started doing this years ago. I'm not dismissing Metro's business savy but right now they are behind the 8-ball in terms of how I view them as an e-business.

Yes but when you are Metropolis how easy would it be to get customers to the site?

If Steve and Vinny put some effort into it you will forget about everyone else.

The one last thing for Metro is this bring your gosh darn prices down close to guide to start. I would much rather spend my money with Steve than anyone else.

I'd say Chuck is bigger than Metro. But, he also deals with a wider range of clients than Metro. He sells all ages, all the way up thru this weeks books.

Metro deals with older material (GA-Copper).

Both have massive inventories, but Chuck is bigger.
