"Astonishing" Tales to Astonish Weekend on PedigreeComics.com

11 posts in this topic

Pedigree Comics has just finalized a consignment deal for an astonishing run of "Tales to Astonish". It is a near-complete, CGC certified, high grade run of the popular Silver Age Ant-Man/Giant-Man and Incredible Hulk/Sub-Mariner title and includes 64 books out of the total 67 issue run that began with the first Ant-Man in costume in issue #35. This set is the second best one according to the CGC Registry and includes a whopping 56 out of the 64 comics in ultra high grade condition (9.4 or better), with 24 in 9.6 and another two in 9.8. Most of the in-demand and key issues are available in NM or better, including issue #44 in 9.4 (first appearance of the Wasp); #49 in 9.4 (Ant-Man becomes Giant-Man); #59 in 9.6 (Hulk's first appearance in the title); #70 in 9.4 (Sub-Mariner and Incredible Hulk double feature begins) and #93 in 9.6 (Hulk battles the Silver-Surfer).

The run was put together by a high grade collector who had an affinity for pedigrees and a love for the title. Thus, over half of the set (38 issues) contains books from pedigreed collections such as White Mountain, Northland, Western Penn., Pacific Coast, Boston and Mile High II. With such a high composition of pedigrees you would expect many books with superb structure and above average page quality and there is only one book in the entire set with less than off-white pages. In fact, most of the books (43) have off-white to white or white page quality.

Overall, this is the most significant and highest graded run of Tales to Astonish ever offered for sale. As most Marvel Silver Age collectors know, early Tales to Astonish issues are hard to come by in any grade, particularly in certified Near Mint (9.4) or higher. This is a great opporunity for collectors to pick up that elusive issue or even upgrade to a 9.4 or a 9.6 copy or obtain a pedigreed one. All 64 books will be listed on the Pedigree Comics website (www.PedigreeComics.com) this weekend beginning with 22 issues on Friday evening, February 10. The remaining 44 books will appear on both Saturday and Sunday (22 each day or night) in the new arrivals section of the website. You can also order or buy any issue before the official listing by contacting Doug Schmell at DoudSchmell@pedigreecomics.com or (561) 422-1120 or (561) 596-9111.

Take care and have an astonishing weekend everybody!

All my TTA's have been listed and a nice amount of sold.

If anyone wants to try to work out some package deals on the remaining books with a slight discount and time payment plans, please PM or email Doug at pedigreecomics.com.

I am open to payment plans of six months with just a 10% non-refundable deposit, so if there are some books you want, but don't have the cash today, I'll definitely try to work with you.

Thanks,

Steve
