The Matrix: Reloaded (Spoilers) Thread

So, whats ya think? What is your synopsis of the film? My over all thoughts were that the "Real" is actually another level of the Matrix. When he stopped those squiddies when they were coming after them after they were on foot. I would have to say that things are getting strange....they should have let Trinity die too. I mean come on..... he chose that path and they needed to kill her. It would be his motivation for the next movie!

Interesting theory about the 'Real' being another level of the Matrix. It would explain how Mr. Smith was able to infiltrate into that level as well as explain how Neo was able to stop the squiddies.

Any ideas on why they saved Mr. Smith's human butt at the end of the movie? They were somehow able to subdue him and put him in the 'coma' state.

That wasn't Smith! I thought it was but then I saw his face. That was the guy who was going to assasinate Neo when they getting ready to leave Zion. (He was slicing his hand) I am gonna watch it again tomorrow. Smith is a program, he isn't a hooked up human. Smith was going for deletion but he became a rogue program. Anyhow, the guy at the end was the guy that told that one captain to go and locate Morpheus' ship. His captain responded, "SHUT YOUR WHOLE OR I WILL PUT YOU IN ONE!" I love that line, I am gonna have to remember it for future use! grin.gif

I'm pretty sure that was Smith, impersonating a human. There was that part where he 'corrupted' that guy just before he was about to pick up the phone? He corrupted the dude and then picked up the phone transporting himself to the 'real' world - which would add to your theory about the 'real' world being another level of the Matrix. I'm not sure I understand the self-inflicting cutting part, but I'm guessing it was an attempt to maintain control over the guy.

Hmm....definitely going to have to see this one again to pick more up.

It was Smith who took over the guy's body in the Matrix,

then he used the "phone" to exit the Matrix INTO that guy

in the "real" world.

So, that guy is just "some guy", but his BRAIN is Smith.

It's all just electrical impulses in the brain, right?

Remember the Morpheus speech in part one ---

"What is REAL?" "How do you define REAL?"

But, I agree...the "real world" is also part of the Matrix.

There MUST BE a Zion, there must be a "singular anomaly" (Neo),

if there must be one, it's because they were created/programmed, too.

When they were showing Neo & the Architect in the Mainframe (I guess)...

were the television screens supposed to represent Neo's thoughts?

When the Architect was talking about the first five "Neo's",

were the screens showing the actual reactions of those "other" Neo's?

In other words...do the Neo's always look like Keanu Reeves?

(Is that why the Oracle wanted to "look at" him in part one?)

I'm going to watch it again today...

since we all know we had to see the first one a few times to

understand the thing.

I didn't get home until 2:00am this morning...

...and did I have some fun dreams last night! grin.gif

SPOILER WARNING

I thought it was a big let down. The movie is a jumbled rehash of the last film and has a terrible rythm to it. It was only during the freeway chase that the movie began to get interesting and then it got disjointed (again) up to the point that the Architect appears.

The "rave" in Zion was laughable. The so-called "evolution" of special-effects fight sequences looks awful with a Neo that comes right out of a computer game. The CGI Shrek-Hulk looks better than this stuff.

At the end of the last film, NEO had so much potential - he had evolved beyond the illusion of the Matrix and was able to manipulate the code itself... now he's back to using Kung Fu (and flying). The NEO at the end of the last film no longer needed to use physical force. A hundred Smiths show up to fight him - so what? He can ignore gravity and hover above them or use a number of other methods to stop them. So what does he do? He uses KUNG FU!

And yes, Smith corrupted that guy and piggy-backed his way into the so-called "real world". I do agree that the Zion program may in fact be another level of the Matrix. It would explain a lot.

Pretty harsh Kev! Yes, the rave scene had me saying WTF? But overall, it was an excellent movie experience. There was probably too much kung-fu, but the kung-fu fights are only a visual extension of how Neo 'handles' situations.

I am starting to think that Neo is actually a program. Not a person. All other persons except the one have none of his abilities. Why wouldn't the Machines create a person that humans can base all hope. Just like in today's society there has always been the one? Alah, Jesus, Budah, and the likes....so why wouldn't the matrix create a savor....humanity needs a savor, something to base hope on. Maybe they are basing the second Matrix (second being the Matrix that they go into and out of via phone lines) on the hope that there is a savor and he can come and go as he pleases. They said the first Matrix was a disaster, humanity resisted the "perfect" programming. Why because there was no hope, no struggle. They "release" (in the first tier) a few humans so rumors of rogue's and people trying to free humanity get into the 1st level of the Matrix and think they are "free" but still have a struggle against the machines...all to be destroyed unless the one can save them...which he doesn't....and it is time for a reboot and it starts all over again....it is a cycle.

P.S. I actually lost my train of thought during typing this out.

Anyhow, there were a bunch of nonsense through this movie. I agree there is about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes worth of garbage that needed to be cut out. The whole rave scene could have been toned down to 1 minute.... the love making scene...15 secs.... the twins could have had better roles.... Smith.... well I guess that multiple fight scene could have stayed because if the guy at the end is Smith he needs reasoning why he is there. The whole French guy, wtf, mroe reasons to hate the French! That fight scene, with Frenchies thugs, should have been avoided. Neo has the ability to destroy any code at any time, but this time he doesn't....why? He could have destroyed Frenchy, Smith, The Twins, The Architect....and hell if he wanted to, he could have destroyed any human plugged into the matrix. Why doesn't he? Major plot flaw.

I guess the editors should have spoken up and put more on the floor.

I think what is gonig to happen eventually is Neo realizes he is a program and he will help bring Humanity back to its knees and reboot the system but not before someone does get completly free of the Matrix and is killed by the Real Machines.

I dont know, all the theories as to the real world being just another level of the matrix sound pretty interesting. If that is the case, I wonder how one really "leaves" the matrix. And once out, I wonder what the "real" state of the world is. But if the real world is the real world, I guess I could see how smith could infiltrate into someone else because they are plugged into the matrix. So when he slipped into that guys brain through the telephone, it could have been because the guy was previously connected to the matrix and still has implants that smith can affect?

Oh and by the way....I guess there was a trailor for Revolutions at the end of the credits. Tomorrow night I will stick around for it. I guess the credits are painfully long. 99% of the theatre I was in missed it, including myself.

I mean to be harsh. This film is an absolute disaster. Rather than pick up where we left off it chooses to take three steps back.

You like kung fu? We'll give you more kung fu! Doesn't anyone in the Matrix not use Kung Fu?

You liked Agent Smith? We'll give you a hundred!

You thought Morpheus was mysterious and cool? Let's make him into a walking parody, so obsessed by his own beliefs that everyone thinks he's an insufficiently_thoughtful_person.

Neo and Trinity? They are in love at the end of the first - but in lust during this film.

Where's Tank? Let's replace him with the guy in the wheelchair on Oz.

The Oracle talks about rogue programs like vampires and werewolves? What do we get? Eurotrash and more kung fu. (the ghost twins were pretty cool though).

Kev,

Gotta agree 90%. The plot moved along about 5% and wasted the rest of the time. The middle movie in a trilogy is supposed to move the story along. The Two Towers, almost pulled this off. Reloaded didn't it just left you with a empty pit...with more questions and nothing answered.

Is the guy in the end Agent Smith, I don't think so but I could be wrong.

I walked out of the theater with mixed feelings the begining dragged for me ,the rave was like 893offtopic1.gif.....the neo VS a hundred mr smiths ......that was impressive, that was the highpoint for me after that the fight scene with the french guys thugs wasnt to be appreciated they should have been swithched in the time sequence having the french scene first and then the mr smith fight .....I heard so much about the chase scene on the highway and I guess it was ok......I liked the concept of rogue programs being aliens and ghosts........but when neo was talking to the architect he was 893blahblah.gif and him reviving trinity 893naughty-thumb.gif893frustrated.gif I just saw the 12pm showing and there were like 30-40 people there confused.gif.......I think they hyped it to much...dont get me wrong its a good movie but not as good as I expected due to the love/dance scenes 893whatthe.gif

Yea, there were some parts that I was like , this is the Matrix gone porno. The rave scene kinda sucked. My wife and I kept laughing that it looked like a big orgy. But take that stuff away and the film rocked. Now I just gotta hold out till November. Ive got to know if the real world is reality or just another level of the matrix

I mean to be harsh. This film is an absolute disaster.

I've gotta agree with this. The movie is a disjointed mess and is one of the very few action-sci fi movies where NOTHING happens. The entire opening is one big blah-blah-blah session where all the characters TELL us everything (even the machine attack is TOLD, not shown) and interspersed with some stupid chop suey scenes.

Did anyone time how long it took for even one important action to happen? I had nearly fallen asleep at the start, checked my watch, and 35-40 minutes had gone by (seemed like 2 hours) and NOTHING had happened, just a bunch of talking heads telling us backstory, personal feelings and boring the heck out of me. Did Kevin Smith write the -script?

After the first sleep-inducing 40+ minutes, the action picks up a bit, but still nothing really happens, which is in direct contrast to the first film, where you could have a full bladder and remain glued to your seat waiting for the next sequence to unfold. There are sooo many plot holes it's not funny, and I wonder if anyone involved in the making of The Matrix Reloaded actually wondered about IGNORING The Matrix for the first 1/3 of the film? Yeah! Show me more expository dialogue, raves and porn!!

Other than Highlander 2 and Phantom Menace, this was the most disappointing sequel/prequel I have ever seen, and as much as I hate to say it, even the horrible Daredevil was a better written movie than this. At least there are a few reversals tossed in there, it had a beginning, and only 98% of the dialogue made me wince.

That's extremely disappointing, as you and I seem to have the same loathing of DD that is not shared throughout the forum. I pray it's not as bad as that load of garbage.

If "Reloaded" sucked (and they put in that much time and $$$), just think about the Punysher! Oh wait! That has John Travolta in it, so it might be good. smirk.gif

Joe, I think I need to see the poster again, please.

Chris
