Scam Suspected

Sal I didn't respond with the real numbers. I haven't emailed him since the first email because of his attitude. However, I did locate the definition of curmudgeon.

"An ill-tempered person full of resentment and stubborn notions." (www.dictionary.com)

That was one of the users I emailed encouraging him to file complaints with ebay, etc. Hopefully he'll do more than just leave neg fb. A flurry of complaints from several different people with the same theme will give eBay cause to investigate and hopefully shut him down.

I am pleased to announce that eBay just pulled those two fraudulent nopimps auctions. Here are the old comic links. They don't work anymore but here they are:

Here is the email eBay sent me:

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to contact eBay Customer Support.

To begin, I apologize for the inconvenience this issue has caused and

for the delay in reply to your email.

eBay has removed listings 6617873415 and 6617875534 you've reported. We

appreciate the time you have taken to send this information to us.

Please keep in mind that there is no foolproof method to keep other

members from downloading your materials and saving them. One way to try

and prevent this is to use javascript to protect against the copying of

your text/images. This however is not a guarantee because if you can

view it, you can certainly save it in any number of ways.

However, saving other members' images and actually using them for

yourself are totally different. One way to discourage others from using

your images would be to use a graphic editing software to create

watermarks in your images.

If you would like to review our guidelines concerning this issue, please

Thank you for using eBay for your online trading needs.

Sadly, eBay is leaving this seller to function. Here is his feedback page:

http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=nopimps

I had reported nopimps for stealing scans so perhaps this explains why his two bogus auctions alone were pulled.

Just got another email from nopimps. He threatens me with future selling problems. Here it is:

Hey,

You just earned yourself a whole host of future selling problems.

That's all the info I'm gonna give ya. And you are a insufficiently_thoughtful_person if you think

this anonymous e-address can truly be linked to Jarod Bryan. Report it to

whomever you wish.

Bye,

Bullseye

Is this the price we pay for fighting crime on eBay?

Your next step, Wolvermint, would be to send copies of all the harassing emails to the provider, even if it is yahoo or hotmail. Using email to harass people is a federal offense similar to harassment using a telephone. The more he taunts, the more he threatens, the deeper he digs a hole for himself. Report the emails and keep on him and if you are a silver powerseller or higher or if anyone who has assisted in this ferroting is a silver powerseller or higher, call your eBay powerseller report and report him as being a negative influence on the ebay community. If enough rabble is roused, action will be taken.

More news from the warfront... news.gif

One of the buyers I contacted that was scammed by nopimps is apparently following up and filing complaints. Here's an excerpt from the email he sent me:

"Thanks for the info. on the scammer nopimps. It has been most helpful. I have filed with PayPal. Thanks for everything."

One step closer...

I just reported nopimps to eBay for threatening my future auctions. I also included the link to this thread as I did the last time.

I searched the hotmail site to find a link to report nopimps there since his recent email came from them but I can't find the appropriate link.

I agree with you completely, but they are a business first, and unless they receive many complaints about a seller, they simply won't shut him down right away. It's a matter of biting off the hand that feeds you. Now let him dodge paying his ebay commissions one month and see how fast he gets shut down!

more news regarding nopimps I received this email through ebay from the most recent buyer leave neg fb for nopimps...

"As predicted, nopimps has just left me vicious,

negative feedback in retaliation. Also, unbelievably, he

has just filed a complaint with eBay against ME - he

now claims that I never paid for the item, even though I

have the proof that I paid for it ($148) within 48 hours by

using PayPal. Of course, the [embarrassing lack of self control] has already

admitted to me in emails that I paid for the item - he

blamed me for not adding the additional amount for

insurance and delivery confirmation.

Well, if there was any doubt, there is none any longer

that this man is clearly out of his mind, and will continue

to wreak havoc on eBay and cause great pain for its

honest uses until he is finally stopped, once and for all. "

and this message...

"I paid ($148) immediately with PayPal, but I never got

the comic book. I have a perfect feedback record (465

positives over six years); this is my first really bad

experience on eBay. This racist liar, Jarod Bryan - if

that's his name - is a total scam artist and a menace to

all honest eBayers. From the tone of his emails, I

believe it is possible that he is criminally insane. I can't

believe that eBay has not yet suspended him. They

have enough information now, and if they don't

suspend him, in my view they are just as responsible.

They really have to do a serious investigation of this

matter and take immediate action. But beware; I

seriously believe that this man may be dangerous. I

have already filed a report with PayPal; last night I filed

a separate report with eBay.

What a punk. I am now convinced he never owned this

comic. He will soon see my report to PayPal, and I am

awaiting his abusive emails. Frankly, now that the jig is

up, the noose is tightening, and that the authorities are

on to him, he will probably become even more nuts,

more desperate and more vicious toward us and the

others he has defrauded. It utterly turns my stomach

that guys like this exist - they ruin it for the 99% of the

sellers on eBay, who are utterly honest and upright. "

Wrcomics, thanks for all your timely counsel. I have followed it and have had nothing but terrific consequences.

I just sent the source code from nopimps hotmail email that he sent me where he threatened my future eBay selling. The eBay rep requested this so I think they are serious about nopimps threats.

Note that I have also reported the email to Hotmail. Here is nopimp's email again:

More from one of my ebay moles following his scabby little ...

"ALERT!!!! nopimps is up to something!!!! I just noticed that he changed his ebay name to nopinups

Also, he has ways of getting around PayPal fraud reporting using fake return addresses on packages he sends.

PayPal suggested that I file complaints against him at www.ic3.gov and www.fraud.com

Others scammed by this guy should do the same."

Pass the info along to ebay if you get the chance. I don't know that they are aware he's going under another ID now.
