We put in another small change that was asked about, so I thought I'd go ahead and clarify it.

We used to have it so that every time you used the back button, the page you went back to would refresh. This is sometimes convenient, like when you're going "back" to the list of messages, because it would then refresh that page and un-highlight what you just read.

It is also sometimes inconvenient, like when you have to hit back to get back to a post you just typed in (maybe you forgot to enter a title) and the page would refresh and wipe out what you'd typed. It also generates some load on the server as everyone is constantly refreshing every page they go "back" to. Additionally, it's a little annoying as it slows down your browsing when going to pages like the boards list, etc., that you don't want to wait for a refresh on.

If you want the message list to refresh when you get done reading a thread and you're at the bottom, just use the "index" link in the lower right to jump back to the thread list. That will count as a new page load and should update what you read or didn't.

Hoot, this one's for you.
