FINAL RESULTS OF SILVER AGE COVER POLL

A word on the methodology of tabulating the votes. First, everyone completed the ballot below and sent it to Mica and me:

 

1st favorite cover (#1) = 10 points:

2nd favorite cover (#2) = 9 points:

3rd favorite cover (#3) = 8 points:

4th favorite cover (#4) = 7 points:

5th favorite cover (#5) = 6 points:

6th favorite cover (#6) = 5 points:

7th favorite cover (#7) = 4 points:

8th favorite cover (#8) = 3 points:

9th favorite cover (#9) = 2 points:

10th favorite cover (#10) = 1 point:

 

There were a total of 62 voters, so…

62 x 10 point votes = 620 points

62 x 9 point votes = 558 points

62 x 8 point votes = 496 points

62 x 7 point votes = 434 points

62 x 6 point votes = 372 points

62 x 5 point votes = 310 points

62 x 4 point votes = 248 points

62 x 3 point votes = 186 points

62 x 2 point votes = 124 points

62 x 1 point votes = 62 points

 

If these points are added together…total points should equal 3410. As you will see, that is exactly how many votes were counted, so there were no mistakes. Mica and I talked on an almost-daily basis throughout the contest to compare results so we could catch any mistakes early. Fortunately, there were none, and all went smoothly.

 

Below are the final finishings. We saw no need to break any ties beyond 35th place.

 

Have fun checking out where your favorite cover that didn’t win placed. Me? I have a lot of them that only I voted for foreheadslap.gif, but at least my first pick ended up in first place, so that made it all worth it. cloud9.gif

 

A final comment: It’s really amazing how definitively the top two covers distanced themselves from #3 on. It seemed the longer the contest went on, the more they pulled out from the pack. No cover seemed to ever have a hope of catching them. Every time we tabulated votes, Silver Surfer #4 and ASM #50 were right at the top.

You know, when I read the question before, for some reason I thought he (blowout) was asking for a list of which books didn't receive votes, which would take a little time to come up with, but Warlord is right: 64 books that were nominated did not receive votes.
