SPIDER-MAN # 1 Am I crazy ??

WOW, I can't believe I just figured this out. In every instance of ever looking at the cover to SPM#1, I thought that Spidey was on the OUTSIDE that tube.....IF you really look though, he's on the inside of it..........WOW......25 years after I first saw this cover and the 100's of times since and only now do I see it.......PLEASE SOMEONE tell me that this is an amazing revelation to you also......Here is the cover.... You can see where the seam on the tube goes IN FRONT of Spidey and how the dark black POST in the background is ACTUALLY in the BACKGROUND.....on first glance it has alway looked to me like it was in the FOREGROUND and therefore Spidey was on the front of the tube and not inside.......ANYWAY........WEIRD !!!!!!!!!

don't me to be a [embarrassing lack of self control] but I always thought it was pretty obvious from the way the seam lines in the tube are over and not under spidey

 

Also as his hands are facing out. How could he stick onto the tube if he was on the outside

Not to mention Spidey wouldn't be "trapped" if he was on the outside.

If you had actually read the story you would have realised he was on the inside of the tube.

I read all of the reprints in Marvel Tales when they republished the Spiderman comics in about 1982 or so. Obviously I didn't pay that much attention or have forgotten something.....

He could just as easily be trapped on the outside as in "PINNED IN" as he would have been on the inside.......I'm just sayin' that at first glance, which is about all I've ever given this cover as I find it dull.....(YES IT'S TRUE....THE COVER IS DULL !!!!, and the torch looks all wrong)......oh yeah, at first glance, I thought SPIDEY was on the outside......SURELY someone else will agree....or maybe not.

if you think about it, Kirby didnt 'get' Spidey! if he did, he would have been hanging upside down in the cage, or, clinging to the inside upside down... right?

I always thought Spidey was inside the tube, but how trapped could he be when it appears there's no top on the tube? What's his real power? Climbing out the top?

It's happened to me from time to time, but certainly not on this cover. Seems pretty obvious. You've got the "tube line" running right at Spidey's waist showing you that he is inside of it.

 

No biggie though. Happens to everybody.

I guess I should get a clue. Y'know I was so into the past and old things ever since I was a little kid. I'll bet I was close to the only 8 year old in the country who knew that Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce starred in all of those Sherlock Holmes movies in the late 30's and 1940's.

ANYWAY.......take a look at what is supposed to be Spider-mans left hand.....the way he has it stuck to the tube it looks LIKE IT'S HIS RIGHT HAND....plus his feet look weird.........I KNOW that Spidey is on the outside of the tube....all I'm saying is that over the years I never really gave the cover more than a passing glance.
