His scanned image with be on the left. On the right, he has 7 buttons: Original, scan type, purpose, scale output, adjust, reset, and preferences. I use the following settings:

 

Original: Photo

Scan type: True color

Purpose: Laser Print Standard(100 dpi)

Scale output: 75%

Adjust: all zero, except contrast, which I crank down to -40.

 

Took me a lot of fiddling to get to settings that I liked.
