If the DC war books are getting out of reach then there's always Atlas to fall back on.

That War #23 is amazing, and I feel that Battle Action #8 is pretty wicked too! Navy Action #16 doesn't do much for me, but I do have a Beavis and Butthead #1 if you want to trade for it. (shrug)

Yikes. I was hoping to snag one of these, but obviously that didn't happen.

War is sure ice-cold. doh! Looks like that GIC 91 sale wasn't an isolated bit of insanity.

I thought I was going to win those GI Combats for about ten seconds. I couldn't justify. But I did win a slew of OOAW's. $600 is ridiculous though that cover is pimpin.

guess the guide's TOO LOW!

Or some bidders have been smoking da crack.

Ya thats it... who in there right mind would pay good money for ultra scarce, classic early DC war books, by renowned artists.

Ya you know what your talking about doh!

And you do I suppose. meh I didn't realize you had all the answers. What are you doing wasting your time posting here. You could be curing all of societies ills with your infinite knowledge and wisdom.

Yes, I consider paying 10X guide for any non key book to be insane. I even consider paying 10X guide for a key book to be mildly cookoo.

It's my opinion and it carries just as much weight as yours. So lay off.

Oooh, I really wanted that GIC #80, and didn't think my $250 would hold up very long. lol I was going to up my bid to try to win it, but I pretty much put a bid in on every one of those comics, so I was scared that I'd win too much. $700 is pricey, but that book is damned scarce, and yes, the guide is too low. MUCH TOO LOW on the high grade, and maybe a little high on the low grade books. I came out of last night's auction with quite a few books and a good deal of perfectly fine mid grade to high grade books, and at fairly reasonable prices. That's where the value is for me. I had every single one of those books, but nearly every one was an upgrade. Also, if you follow these books, as I know you all do, the high grade books rarely appear for sale, so it's not too much of a surprise to see these realised prices.

I got this one for much less than I thought I'd have to pay: OAAW #43 CGC 8.0 $107

http://comics.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=17082&Lot_No=17397

Here's an example of a good deal: OFF #10 CGC 4.0 $37.00 (it'd cost me $30 to CGC it!)

http://comics.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=17082&Lot_No=17423

A nice high grade book at a good price: OFF #18 CGC 7.5 $95

http://comics.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=17082&Lot_No=17425

Highest graded: OFF #75 CGC 9.2 $131

http://comics.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=17082&Lot_No=17441

Granted, there are 3 of these in 9.4, but I'm happy to be the owner of one of them: OFF #123 First Losers CGC 9.4 $155

http://comics.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=17082&Lot_No=17447

That was a fun auction. I would've loved any of those high grade GIC's, but as Quality Comix was saying, the big 2 are selling for many multiples, and that's just a little out of my league. Geez, I spent enough, but I'll sure be happy for a long, long time. (thumbs u

I was too busy in Chicago to bid on any in this last auction so I missed out on quite a few that I wanted.

I did pick up some nice War books in Chicago including OAAW #s 81 - 83, OFF #45, GI Combat #87 and some others. I'll post the GI #87 in a few days after I get settled back in.

I'm with you, J. These prices are now officially out of hand.

HOWEVER.... I do think that they are understandable by the fact that this is the first time any nice copies of these books have appeared in YEARS.... and it is unlikely the market will be flooded anytime soon.

As I said a week or so ago, I am SO GLAD I picked up my washtone G.I. Combats some time ago when they were still sort of reasonable..

I guess I shouldn't be surprised especially in this day of paying outrageous multiples of guide for slabbed 9.6 and 9.8 books.

Personally, I think Andy (thirdgreeham) got some of the best deals.
