Truman was a totally underrated artist...

Again, completely off topic for this thread but I bought this directly from Tim Truman a few years ago.

It's the cover of the TSR D&D module, Blizzard Pass.

Another lucky win -- ratty copy but I suspect it's scarce. Seller's photo, cleaned up a little bit.

All-American Men of War #3 (but either the 2nd or 4th book in the series, depending on how you count).

1953 -- I guess it's really Golden Age, not Silver Age, but it fits in better here.

New to the boards here.

Hope you like this one, a little Fantasy here - the Ghost gunner.

Late GA early SA comic, I just love this cover.

Me, too. That's one of my favorite non-DC war covers ever!!!

I like the back cover on that one, too.

Welcome to the boards! You're welcome to post in the war section any ol' time!

A great cover. I noticed that Bill Battle 3 had popped up in war cover conversation recently.

Now I know why. Thanks for posting (thumbs u

Thanks for the warm welcome to the board.

I don't have a lot of war comics but I really enjoy them.

The Bill Battle one is great. The story inside is about the newly formed Comic Code.

Bill show up and takes on the Censors ;)

As you can see he delay's the code until new Censors can be found.

Hope you like these. The last one is G.I. Joe helping Bill Battle with the Censors.

Nice one! I believe that cover was painted by the incomparable Norm Saunders. Great cover!

Maybe not:

David Saunders' fantastic website

G. I. Joe #12 (actual v2 n12) Ziff-Davis Pbl. (Norm's 9th, and last, of 9 covers for this title) NOTE: All subsequent painted covers are by Clarence Doore or Allen Anderson

Don't think it is but I believe the Hopalong Cassidy are.

Also have number 34 of HC.

I hope I'm in the DMZ and don't get shot for putting these Westerns up here.

Can you forgive me?

Thank God Grandma put the year on these or else no one would know when they

were published :)

At least I put a True War up so I don't completely mess up the board.

my goodness.. it is amazing how many of these i have read based on looking at

the covers. seems no one wanted them during the 1980-1990s and i could buy

them for a song.. even given to me back then.

i wonder if anything has changed on the low, mid, and high end? did cgc make

these titles go crazy too?

i still have hundreds of pages to look at yet!

I love that site, but it's got some gaps... there are some unattributed Saunders covers out there.

Granted, it may be someone else... but the faces look unmistakeably Saunders.

That site is maintained by his son who did considerable research in putting together the definitive book on his father's work. I suspect that the cover is by Allan Anderson. He shared a studio and models with Norm and that's why you'll see see similarities.

Anybody have a nice Fine or better copy of AAMOW 18 OUTSIDE the slab?

I'm looking for a scan for Bill Schelly who'se writing another Joe Kubert book and wants a full-sized 300dpi scan of it. If anybody does, would you PM me?

Thanks,

Mick
