I finally found a decent Microtek scanner off of Craigslist on the cheap. A number of years ago, it wasn't an issue because I used to crack all the stuff out of the slabs because I despise those things (still do). At some point, I'd accumulated a pile of about 10 of 'em before I had a spare minute to just crack 'em open so I could read and smell them; but then I realized that here sat a stack of about $400.00 (or something like that) worth of slab fees. I knew that I wasn't planning on flipping them in my lifetime (and am well aware that that can change), but I figured that somebody from my family WOULD be after I don't need them anymore and it just is going to amount to a huge slabbing fee for somebody someday.

 

Fast-forward about 5 years later and I have a stack of comics that I've never posted because my dinky little scanner (before the Microtek) only fits raw comics. So here goes with some of the slab scans. I'll start with some of the AAMOWs. I'm kinda experimenting here. It seems like even if I scan at 96 dpi and make it approx. 7 X 10, the total memory it takes up is 1.86 M which seems to be about double the amount of space the old scans were on the old scanner. Ideas? If you have any, PM me and I'll explore this further in the scan thread.

Just a heads up - I'm running an Atlas and EC war thread tomorrow, probably starting to drop books around 9am eastern.

 

So grab a coffee, put some cartoons on for the kids, and come on by to see some really, really nice books thy don't appear for sale all that often!

I know this is a BA book and I'm just showing off my sort of new Scanner/

Printer my Mom gave me for my birthday. It's a big improvement from that

old one a co-worker gave me that couldn't do slabs.

I love it and I must say it was a great day even though father time is marching
