FF #85 Cover... Original art?

Saw this Heritage auction for the cover of FF #85 and was wondering if this was really the original cover art since the FF's male members all have their mouths open in the art but not on the finished cover...

Yes, it's the original. There was probably a mechanical photostat of the cover that was altered for production.

 

I've seen numerous examples of real originals that vary slightly from their published counterparts.

I owned the FF #85 cover back in the 70's. There was indeed a stat on the art for the published version. The cover for sale is not the published version, as it doesn't have the stat on it.
