These almost all came from a collection from a farm yard sale somewhere in Ohio in early 70s….via mothers boyfriend at the time who knew my brother and I were into comics…I’d love to track that kid down and find out he at least got a Nobel prize for mathematics or something to make the desecration at least a little worth it.

Well, in my case, I would have done that problem in my head. And even if I had to do it by hand, I think I could have found a more appropriate place (like an usused tissue, newspaper, or utility bill).

Of course; we all would. We’re not monsters.

In contrast, my older brothers would have delighted in the opportunity to destroy something I cared about.

The kid was prob sitting in a barn and that’s all he had. And it was the 60s….the notion that comics were for anything but reading (and scratchpaper) was inconceivable to 99% of people.
