My First OA

6 posts in this topic

Last year I started reading comics for the first time in my life. I'm 41 and never read comics as a kid. The first comic I picked up was the TPB of Frey (Dark Horse) because I'm a big Joss Whedon fan. That book started me on a serious addiction to modern comics (not to mention a foray into comic golden/silver investing that was educational but not profitable). Since then I've come to love modern titles like Y: The last Man, DMZ, ExMachina, The Walking Dead, 100 Bullets as well as classics like Watchmen and Batman: Dark Knight Returns.

Anyway, in homage to my first comic I have agreed to purchase page 21 of Fray issue # 8. It's not the best example of OA, maybe its not even good, but its has a special meaning to me and I think that's what OA collecting is all about.

Here is the page

Thanks everyone!

I too agree it's all about that special meaning a piece brings you. I just picked up my fifth page from a book that is not only modern, but not near being a key. But it's the same book that I got my first piece from. And it's from the artist that made comic books fun for me again.
