CAF Update - Early DAVID LLLOYD Artwork

2 posts in this topic

Hi there

My family and I were watching V FOR VENDETTA this evening, which reminded me that I had some of the artist's early tryout samples for the UK newspaper strip, GARTH. As far as I know, these tryouts date from the early 1970s. The originals for the two strip tryouts are small in scale (measuring the same size as the printed strips, approx 7.5" x 2"). I had a telephone conversation with David some years ago, and from what he told me - he was unaware (then) that newspaper strip originals were drawn at a much larger scale than the printed page! I guess this must have been VERY early in the artist's efforts to make a career as a comic-strip artist . . .

P.S. Sadly, he didn't take over the GARTH strip.
