That price is a fluke, although they do seem to be trending up for WP copies. When I first got into CGC and the Registry, I was tracking these as I was thinking of making a 9.8 set. I recorded these sales, without page quality, before I lost interest:

$218.51 2/8/04 (9.8)

$300 2/8/04 (9.8)

$242.50 2/21/04 (9.8)

$257.25 3/1/04 (9.8)

$199.99 10/3/04 (9.8)

 

So prices were all over a 50% range then, and probably still are now. It's the 2, 3, and 4 that have taken off. My data:
