Walking Dead...Great Read...

18 posts in this topic

Taking the family out of town last weekend for a small trip...of course we happened into a small comic store and needing something to read later in the evening at the hotel, I picked up the first trade of the Walking Dead series.

I had always seen the new issues come out and that and to be honest, I really never looked at them and was not all that interested in the series at all, but having read through the first trade....holy 893censored-thumb.gif

Fantastic read! 893whatthe.gif I admit I was a tad suprised how good the book is, and subsequently getting back home this week, of course at the first chance I had I ran out and bought 3 more trades and then the back issues up to 29.

Cannot wait to see what happens next....really great book and a fantastic read. I was presently suprised! 893applaud-thumb.gif

You can generally find the non signed one for under cover price on ebay.

What is cover price? $99?

Yes, cover price on the unsigned edition is somewhere around $100, and for the signed and numbered edition it's around $150.

When the Omnibus was first released, I hit an ebay BIN for the Signed edition for only $67 893whatthe.gif I couldn't believe it!

The signed edition is limited to only 150 books, and I've seen it go for as much as $400 cloud9.gif

yes and because of the format, the grey tones really stand out and it's worth every nickel and i'm not one to buy absolute editions.

When it came out, you could get it from any number of places for $65. Only a insufficiently_thoughtful_person or someone with too much cash paid cover. So if its going for cover price now, it has most certainly appreciated in value.

i have everything now except issues 1 and 2 and the signed omniubus hardcover. i love the idea behind all the letters and answers at the end. and i'm glad that kirkman wants this series to go on for so long. i'd love to see this story continue to unfold. although i know it would hard to do, i'd like to eventually (a long time from now) see the zombies eradicated so that the remaining humans can re-build. written right, that could be just as interesting.

The regular goes for $100+ on Ebay. The S&N goes for ~$150. I found one at an overseas comic shop for a little less then $100 new and ordered one.

Wow, the S&N version is only going for $150 now? It was going for over $300 a few weeks back, and like I said, I saw it once reach the $400 mark...

At a limited edition of only 150, it's darn rare and I'm surprised it's only selling at cover price... (I just checked and cover price on the S&N omnibus is exactly $150)

Grifter - I was in the same boat as you...what the heck is all the fuss about. I am not much of a horror guy - movies or comics, but this is a great story and the way that the book is writen and illustrated it is very suspensefull. I could not put the darn trades down when I got mine....really....I found myself litterally thinking what the heck I would do in the same situation...

It is a very suspensefull and fastenating read. I actually just re-read 1-4 again and I can hardly wait for the new issue to come out .... just dying to what happens to Rick and the two others....

Yes, I think the 5th trade is out, I ended up finding the back issues...for $30 bucks for all 4 - that is a good deal. It is a fantastic read...and again, I am not much into horror....but let us know once you get them and read em...
