Manufactured Gold...the actual books.

Here's an example of one that looks like it backfired.

Leading 8 double cover - was a CGC 9.6, outer cover 8.0/inner cover 9.6 - Sold for $2760 in 10/02

In the interim, another double cover Leading 8 surfaces, this one 9.6/9.0 and sells for $1500 & change twice. Clearly a different book.

Then the first copy is apparently cleaned and resubbed. The outer cover is now 8.5, but the inner cover is still 9.6. PQ gets a bump from CR/OW to OW. But due to the way CGC labeled it (i.e. as an 8.5 rather than 9.6) it sells for $610 in 2/09 - a loss of more than 75% of the initial sale. Not to mention cleaning/pressing/slabbing fees.

Oops.

I am surprised you believe hell exists. Unfortunately for you, I don't think it's a socialist state. :hi:

Gotta go through hell to get to heaven.

I haven't got to heaven yet. :insane:

:news: Heaven has been pressed.

Gold initially referred to the age of the books. :gossip:

Well, there's the problem right there. The books were already manufactured. It would make sense to create such a thread with a metaphorical title (shrug) I still prefer "polished turds".

It was also a play on words. Not only was Gold a reference to the age, but it also implied added value. It was actually an excellent title for the subject matter.

I think we need a manufactured bronze thread. Oh wait.....we already have those in the marketplace. :P
