Not to ever dispute cgc - but does not the top of the comic, its lighter cover color ( might be the scan) and its transluceny make it less then a 9.2. Or is the scan just blowing things out of proportion?

The scan is blowing things out of proportion. The seller has the brightness on the scan/photoshop software jacked up so much, in an effort to remove perimetral toning and severe cover transparency, that the dot pattern has actually been washed out in the top quadrant below and surrounding the logo. The toning at the edge is STILL showing up despite his best efforts to counteract it by drastically brightening the image. It's nothing new. it's Heritage's scanning technique except that Heritage has the contrast and intensity jacked up to infinity as well as the brightness giving it a slightly "crisper" look but also equally non-representative of the book's true color visual appearance.
